The iPad will find it's way into usefulness by some industry like Health Care. It's something for the masses..not a must have for people that need the latest gadget. So don't hate it if you don't need it.. I'm not sure if an internal camera fits into how the iPad should be used.
No technology is a must have for people, unless it is life saving this type of tech is useless, people have been so depended on this type of tech that all it takes is a switch and BOOM its gone and people will freak, shit we just got a huge snow storm and our power went out and my mom was freaking, you know why? cause she couldn't watch TV :/ any kind of entertainment tech is useless no one needs it but everyone has got to have it

This device is similar to when ipods were released. People were bashing it, they didn't see the use for it. doesn't replace a laptop...yet. if you need laptop with tablet capability go get the regular tablet PCs and most of them now have multi touch capabilities. way practical. This is ofcourse way cooler. I was hoping that they just include a tablet capabilities on their imac lines - That would've been great instead of having a brand new product which is essentialy a larger iphone, albeit one that doesn't make any calls

Really only diffrence is the screen size(which makes it very unportable). There are some really great tablets out their with much better features than this ipad joke,

yeah agreed there are other tablets out there but as empathy150 said this is just a multimedia device to enjoy media in a fun way?! they've just released a whole new range of macbooks do you really think they're going to make them redundant by bringing out the ipad.. no.. they're filling the gap between the iphone/touch and the macbook.. you're on a plane flight or waiting for a while.. would you rather watch a film or use an app on a tiny iphone screen or enjoy it on a 10inch screen?
