@pissedoffdude87 Difficult to answer, depends on amount of radiation, length of exposure, and isotopes involved,.workers at Fukishima were exposed to different amounts/time factors, there were some deaths within weeks ,at Hiroshima, some people died immediately, others some months later, others developed cancers more than 20 years later... at Chernobyl people are still dying of aftereffects today for a full nuclear blast at ground zero, death would probably occur within a matter of days.....
@kkamhawy LOL He really is a loser.....and apparently wants the world to end in disaster, but he'll be the only survivor... I may be an "idiot" as he repeatedly posted, but my husband is a nuclear engineer, and I have a degree in nuclear science...so maybe I may have some expertise and know what I'm talking about.. whatever.. this is just YouTube....
It takes a tool like geoffck6969 to accuse others of what he does himself. There have been several complaints from pre-teen users and their families of geoffck6969 harassing them to perform fetish acts on camera.
geoffck6969, who has gone by various aliases, and who makes a new one every day, is a loser who has been disowned by his family and who now lives on welfare in a cheap sleeping room. His whole life is trolling for attention online.

I lived on two Army bases, SF Presidio in the 1950s, San Antonio in the 60s and 70s.. guess I would have been one of the first to go.... So far, so good....
@anisete46 I lived about 5 miles from a primary target. Because the part of the city where we lived was up on a plateau about 120 feet above Ground Zero , we would have probably survived the blast, assuming the payload was on target. The radiation would have been another matter. Like many others back then, my father looked into the possibility of building a fallout shelter. In the end, he didn't, nor did anybody in our neighborhood.
great miniseries....but the sound on this clip is waaaaaaaay outta sync with the video, at least on my computer (better than nothing, considering no audio on an earlier clip, but still...)
It´s not possible that ONE atombomb can freeze and destroy the whole world. It´s simply stupid, the whole movie! Yeah, sure only because of that the whole population of the world dies! Saw the movie, wehn i was eight or something. Was kinda shockin´.
@musicfreak25195 There wasn't just one. Part of the footage in the movie shows San Francisco destroyed; another talks of Commander Towers refusing to fire his sub's missiles. It's assumed that the war escalated and that many warheads were detonated.
Yes it would. a nuclear winter coveres the whole atmosphere with dust around the globe for at least 10 years and kill off all plants and life as we know it.
Radioactive dust and rain will spread to all corners.
lol, way to many selfproclaimed experts who are commenting here
@Ericzeppe This was the theory at the time the book was written based on their knowledge at the time. Ever with all the nuclear weapons in the world fired at their targets, large pockets of humanity would remain and rain showers would rinse the air slowly over time. It wouldn't be this extreme. It makes for strong sounding statements and good entertainment, but there is no real evidence proving it
@saintrobbie375 can you cite your scientific sources? Maybe UR right, butcept, rain would only drive ambient rads into the soil;humans could perhaps survive, but face tainted land, leukemia, divers cancers, genetic mutations, nuclear winter compromising crop yields, deformed offspring etc. Denial of known consequences only brings it closer. See "Threads" (BBC) on this site, keep an open mind, let me know what you think :))
@anisete46 It would be pointless to tell you AGAIN how stupid you really are. I laid out the scientific evidence numerous times why nuclear war, even a full scale one, would not result in an extinction level event. Read the Fall 1986 issue of Foreign Affairs. There's a rigorously conducted study that debunks the myth of Nuclear Winter. Even Sagan et al admitted it was not likely after reading this study. (cont'd)
@anisete46 If fallout particles do not become mixed with the parts of food that are eaten, no harm is done. Food and water in dust-tight containers are not contaminated by fallout radiation. Peeling fruits and vegetables removes essentially all fallout, as does removing the uppermost several inches of stored grain onto which fallout particles have fallen. (cont'd)
@anisete46 Water from many sources -- such as deep wells and covered reservoirs, tanks, and containers -- would not be contaminated. Even water containing dissolved radioactive elements and compounds can be made safe for drinking by simply filtering it through earth, as described later in this book. The authoritative study by the National Academy of Sciences, (cont'd)
@anisete46 A Thirty Year Study of the Survivors qf Hiroshima and Nagasaki, was published in 1977. It concludes that the incidence of abnormalities is no higher among children later conceived by parents who were exposed to radiation during the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki than is the incidence of abnormalities among Japanese children born to un-exposed parents. (cont'd)
@anisete46 Some gamma radiation from fallout will penetrate the shielding materials of even a shelter and reach its occupants. However, the radiation dose that the occupants of a shelter would receive while inside can be reduced to a dose smaller than the average American receives during his lifetime from X rays and other radiation exposures normal in America today. The design features of such a shelter include the use of a sufficient thickness of earth or other heavy shielding material.
@anisete46 Now, after reading all of that FACTUAL information, will you finally stop spreading MISINFORMATION? if you do not understand a subject, do not attempt to speak authoritatively on it. Just because you were "scared shitless" of a nuclear war during the Cold War does not give you the right to make shit up. We were all scared, but that drove some of us to get FACTS! God, you are an annoying idiot!! Seriously...
@anisete46 And to CLARIFY ONCE AGAIN, the extinction level event in the FICTIONAL novel by Nevil Shute 'On The Beach' was the result of cobalt jacketed atomic warheads. In REALITY, no nuclear power has EVER jacketed a nuclear warhead with cobalt or zinc or any other gamma ray emitting isotope with a lengthy half-life. Leo Szilard, one of the fathers of the atomic bomb, conceived the idea in 1950 but it was never seriously pursued. (cont'd)
@anisete46 In conclusion, for the LAST TIME, no cobalt or other salted bomb has ever been atmospherically tested, and as far as is publicly known none have ever been built. In light of the ready availability of fission-fusion-fission bombs, it is unlikely any special-purpose fallout contamination weapon will ever be developed.
Not only do they have a small amount of nuclear weapons, but they aren't as sophisticated has American nukes, it's said they have between 150-300 nuclear weapons. Theres way more high priority military and metropolitan targets than the number of nukes they have. China would probably attack US targets and allies in their close region than attempting to hit north america. North america also has missile interceptors everywhere to take down some nukes, so probably very few actual hits on northameric
It really depends what Russia would do. China's close to Russia, and when Russia sees all these incoming ICBM on their radar screen, they might get a little nervous, even with US reassurances via secret communications that they are not the target.
Where were you in the 1990's? Bill Clinton gave China the technology they needed for ICBM's to be accurate and gave them a Naval Port in California. That was just what was in the open. MFN status, UN human rights awards and the list go's on. Then he was given a second term.
Except for one thing - he received a puncture wound from a fallout-contaminated object. The Alpha Dose taken internally would have been terrific (I can give you a more detailed explaination off-line if you wish). The bottom line is that I wouldn't discount CDR Hirsch getting so sick so quickly.
I reckon the radiation is effecting the audio?
