  • This post is on behalf of musicians as the one in this video :)

    9gag.com/gag/1275372

  • @DJTrancenergy What the fuck man, Beatles and AC DC are not overrated you idiot. That's music, this is music. Different styles! Now, you know what is overrated? Bieber, Selena Gomez, Fall Out Boy, that shit.

  • @TheRedBallz

For 9GAG specifically, they are. I don't say they are bad musicians or something, but I'm just fucking annoyed at the fact those post that praise them.

  • and i quit

  • Just a bunch of great players blowing chops and bashing their instruments, blah blah blah, this has no soul blah blah, and i like to talk bullshit because I’m an ass and I like to catch people´s attention!! C´mon viewers lets just ignore this asshole!!Music is art, and art´s purpose is to transmit emotions, any emotion or thought or feeling, maybe it doesn´t transmits anything to you but please don’t call this awesome music “forgettable noise”, you ass!!

  • @abuelitaentanga yeah.. forgettable noise. No emotion thought or feeling here 4 me. Accent on "me". This ain't art to ME. to ME it's NOISE, BASHING AND A WHOLE LOTTA CLAMS!!

  • @TheBass2themax Totally agree. Michel bangs the piano a little too much for my money. That's why I prefer Gonzalo Ruvalcaba a tot more. I don't see the point of this "piece."

  • @rodrigozuniga45 nice to know someone out there understands.. cool. All these guys are amazing players... this just isn't amazing music... and it is pretty forgettable isn't it? PEACE

  • More cowbell!

  • no words... -_-

  • guys in audience who are moving there heads are prolly drummers:D

  • MICHEL CAMILO TRIO, QUE BUENOS MUSICOS LOS TRES, UUUUUUUUFFFFFF

  • 0 - 1:45 is noise - then they groove for a bit- then the improvising starts and it's like some cat talking to you saying "blah blah blah" really fast. AJ's bass tone is absolute ass, as amazing a player as he is - about as much sensitivity in MC's playing as a lawnmower and he hits a whole bunch of clams - @ 6:31 it kinda sounds like music again up to 6:42 - then a bit more groove then more noise yeah.. this is pretty bad - give me Eliane Elas any day- Zawinul, something w/a bit of feeling. cya

  • @TheBass2themax

common fallacy: calling something you don't understand "noise". These three are amazing musicians, at the top in the world on their instruments. What makes you think you're on their level?

  • @TheBass2themax its obvious you're not a musician. this is music that musicians listen to and go "holy shit" it takes a certain level of musical understanding, that you obviously don't have, to appreciate such fine music such as this. and 0- 1:45 isn't noise its a call and response between the drums and piano and its really fucking brutal Horacio Hernandez is a bad ass.

  • @TheBass2themax its obvious you're not a musician. this is music that musicians listen to and go "holy shit" it takes a certain level of musical understanding, that you obviously don't have, to appreciate such fine music such as this. and 0- 1:45 isn't noise its a call and response between the drums and piano and its really brutal Horacio Hernandez is a bad ass. Even if you do claim to be a musician, if you can't appreciate something this amazing you're just someone who owns and instrument.

  • @Namoa90 whatever holmes - this is soulless excess by a bunch of very talented cats who can play, who turned on the testosterone full blast on this one pointless and perfectly forgettable tune. Music is about feeling, not about blowing your damn chops. it's not the olympics. Music is about feeling and being moved - while their chops might be impressive, this has zero emotive power - just my opinion. have a nice day.

  • @TheBass2themax Music touches everyone a different way and certain styles of music allow for it to touch you in a a different way. for example Eliane Elas is a very good singer but no one else in the band does anything interesting at all. This is music that has an amazing amount of soul so much so that its the people who actually understand music that listen to it and fall in love with it.

  • @Namoa90 First of all, Eliane Elias is principally a jazz pianist. Secondly, her band is phenomenal. This music, to my ears, has zero soul. Just a bunch of great players blowing chops and bashing their instruments. I understand music, from Bach to Gershwin to Zeppelin to Queens of the Stone Age - I can understand musicians getting together to blow chops and it can be impressive, but ain't got nothin to do with soul. This is just over indulgent bashing.... to my ears... & lots of clams!!

  • @TheBass2themax show me something with soul that was created by 3 musicians that is just as challenging to play. This is dance music and people like to dance to a quick paced song. and these dudes rock it. Eliane Elias aint got nothing on Michel Camilo and she would say the same. You also have to take into account this is a live performance, if you have listened to any of his recorded stuff their is alot less improv, and as a musician i love improv some of the coolest things come from it.

  • @Namoa90 Plenty of soulful stuff to find created by 3 musicians... or 5, so I missed your point on that. This is NOT dance music - no way not even close. Your comment on EE having nothing on MC is retarded. I'll take Eliane any day, personally, but they are both great players with their own styles. I have heard his recorded material, which is why I was so surprised at this performance... lots o' banging and no memorable lines and LOTS of clams. peace

  • @TheBass2themax Try to find something just as difficult to play made by three musicians. MC would blow EE out of the water anyday with one hand. you obviously know nothing of latin jazz so go home and get educated before you start trying to sound smart.

  • @Namoa90 the value isn't in the difficulty. Music isn't about who blows who "out of the water" - who gives a shit? Al DiMeola can play circles around Jeff Beck - I'll take Jeff any day. MC might have more chops than EE, but I'll take Eliane any day. I don't need to prove my education to you. For you playing music is a sporting event. To me it's about feeling. To me this clip is a bunch of forgettable noise. To you it's genius. No need to get personal.

  • @TheBass2themax I just get bored with simplicity, i like to try to push the limits of music. Thats exactly what these guys do.

  • @TheBass2themax music is all about sound and feel in the moment. if you want to listen to jazz its not about a simple melody that they play over and over that you get sick of, its about being an active listener in the moment. if you want to appreciate music on its hightest level you have to think like a musician and focus.

  • @TheBass2themax I get your point, but even if you know Bach to whatever, you are in the top of your game, or even if you are a music genius, you can miss things. You are missing here the kind of music they are playing. This is not jazz. This is a very fast cuban rumba jam. The sound can be as strange as noise to outsiders, and this is all right. I've seen it happen before with great musicians. Believe me, they are not blowing chops here. Just perfect playing of a difficult kind of latin music.

  • @odcastro this is not latin music. This is jazz fusion. They are blowing chops because there's no melodic content in the lines Michel is playing... to me that is.

  • @TheBass2themax Ok, so you didn`t know they were playing latin music here?. It's ok. Call it jazz fusion or whatever you like, but learn that this is cuban Rumba Jam played in a jazz trio format. The Rumba jam is an strictly percussive and improvised kind of music, played by several people with african drums and their voices (and nothing else). Camilo and company introduce some theme and melody, but they don't need it. Here the piano is like a drum, and that's ok, even if you don't like it ;-)

  • @TheBass2themax you dont know what music is//// you dont know what clave is. I'd like to see you playing!!!! you are a shame!!

  • yessssssssssssssssss onn fire!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hayyy...mama...la cabeza me da vueltas...de estas tambien deberian mandar grabadas en los satelites espaciales,...por si algun vecino los intercepta...como gozaria!!!

  • sounds like a bunch of noise 2 me

  • @TheBass2themax HAHAHAA!!!!!!! DO IT BETTER!!!! COULD YOU???

  • The man makes you feel so good. The trio is incredible. It is pure "life is really good" and I thank them for the treat. I'm 70 and will still salsa, and play the keyboard. Thank you guys...

  • that's what I call real professional musician's...

  • How can it get any better than this? everything is perfect.

  • Excellent performance, Camillo is always welcome, thnx for the post

  • Holy Mother of God!

    Standing ovation to these guys!

I first heard Camilo's music in the late 80's with Dave Weckl on drums and WOW he keeps the standard of his music always so high!

I love listening to this stuff and watching it too!

  • Piano and drums kind of take the spotlight on this one, but listen again to the bass man. He's rippin'!

  • OMG! Wow! Gee-wiz, Man-o-man, Gosh, Golly-Geee!

How you you like to be the band that follows these guys?

  • I watch this whenever I have a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell.

  • I HAVE TO CHANGE MY PANTS......AGAIN!!!! DAMN IT!

  • I saw this band about 9 years ago perform at Berkley...didn't know what to expect - never heard of 'em. Wow. All I can say is wow. I walked out of that concert in shock - I had never heard such an amazing trio. So tight. Phenomenal. :-)

  • totalmente de otro planeta!!! :D

  • this version - on fire -, is not great, but divine... I heard this version a first time, if I heard some other version - on fire - this song don't mean nothing to me... But , with Anthony Jackson and Horacio '' el negro'' Hernandez, this song become a Goddess pieces of art... it is very powerful, and I heard this song, again and again couple months, in one period of mine life... I recommended this version, in the morning, for reloading energy, for intire day... :)

  • @DJTrancenergy For sure! I totally agree with you!!!!

  • @Musicmonk84 His name is Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez ;)

  • I can't believe this man. That drummer makes want to quit everything and practice this recording.

  • If Horacio Hernandez releases its own line of metronome I would so buy ONE!

Hi hats off to you Negro!

To all the drummers, does having a good sense of time means that you can also dance really well?

I do!!! I would love to hear what you think :)

  • @DJTrancenergy actually every drummer should be able to dance. A drummer's purpose is to make people dance so if the drummer cannot dance himself, how will he get the audience to dance?

every drummer should be able to dance

  • Where can i get this Dvd???

  • 2:47

    Love Negros look.

  • awesome!!!

  • maronnaaaaaaaa!! che vita e che felicità suonare così! Strepitosi i tre.

  • Is this on DVD somewhere?

  • listen Crazy funky by minicillo

  • These guys are great man.....

  • Michel Camilo will be performing at the Blue Note in New York from April 20 thru April 25, 2010.

  • THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I wish Horacio would be my personal metronome... =P

  • It's not fair man......

  • This is the best trio Michel ever put together. Anthony's bass grooves are so solid and tight, and Horacio's polyrythm over it is just outstanding. Inhuman playing and energy.

  • It is a formidable trio. But i think Cliff Almond trumps Horacio on drums, because he reacts much more to what the others are doing

  • People have given you thumbs down because they have completely misunderstood your comment - I too prefer Almond's drumming with Camilo; he's an outstanding and grossly underrated player.

  • el mejor aporte de músicos latinos a la MÚSICA actual

  • dios mio... estan completamente locos! jajaja

  • Claro que sii!! Completamente locos!! And thanks God for that!! :)

  • SIck!........... just sick! This man is the reason im into latin jazz. Just one of many great musicians Dominican Republic has produced! Awesome video!

  • Esta gente está completamente desquiciada, son tres enfermos increíbles.

  • la puta mierda...

  • check him out 7:34 that is nasty wat he did

  • Man, just to see them continuously smile and have so much fun doing what they love, makes my day everytime i watch this.

  • I lol everytime i look at AJ's face xD

He is so fuckin funny xD

  • Horacio's grin at 2:47 when he switches the clave is priceless.

  • Oh, don't mind me, I'll just play clave with my foot while I go nuts with my hands. Oh, you're impressed? I had no idea; it's just what I do.

  • from out of this world!

  • wow, este tipo es un salvaje!!!

  • Wooooooooo CAMILO en concert en Martinique et C qui ki fait la première partie???

    C'est NOUS KAN'L Crew!!!!Dammmn!!

  • The DVD and CD "Caribe - Michel Camilo Big Band" are now released in Spain. Enjoy!

  • WOW! WOW!!

  • At 1:21 he skipped a beat and smiled - all while still keeping the tempo :-)

    What inspiring musicians, amazing!

  • Wacked!

  • Just amazing!!! I hope I could see them play before I die!!! NEGRO, you're the best drummer!

  • I went whith my girlfriend to the Tokyo Blue Note for to see him. Was amazingg!!!!!1

  • amazing!

  • I wanna see they live some day... perfect!

  • the trio best of the world!

  • 1:21 El Negro Hernandez makes a small mistake... he smiles... and you cant tell cuz its still so musical!

  • what is his mistake, i dont hear it

    peace

  • Not exactly a mistake. He skip a note. In the hands of a lesser drummer, this would've totally messed up their rhythm, but he smiled and go on as if nothing happens.

  • Brilliant!
