  • Wow my flute is so much easier

  • How many different types of glasses make up your harp and what are they?

  • how do u make a sound of the glass

  • how many different sized glasses do you have?

  • wonderful, it's amazing

  • How much did all of these glasses cost you? And what is the range of notes?

  • people without water that watch this video (somehow) would not be happy

  • Thank you for the information. The ten glasses which don't need tuning — they must have been carefully selected for pitch, yes? Tuning a 5-octave rank of pipes seems easier. Your playing is superb.

  • Amazing sound. The tuning reminded me of Violins :D

  • I.. am... FASCINATED !!!!!!!!

  • I had saw what you write to @FallenAngel2737 . So now I need to ask you that where can I bought it ? And it really need only 5 dollars for one maximumly ?

  • wouldn't it be easier to draw a line on each glass and then fine tune from there

  • I want to drink the water after it has been played. It has to energize the water.

Mighty fine and please keep posting!!!!!!!!

  • I am not a musician and have no clue about octaves, scales etc. I am just stunned by your kindness in providing this information to those who CAN understand it. Not only are you extremely talented and play AMAZING music on a very challenging instrument, you are KIND as well. Thank you for being just exactly who you are!

  • cool

  • What sizes are the glasses in your setup? I imagine size would have to make a difference.

  • Hey thanks for this video!

  • Have you tried different waters? water softeners?

    ...

  • Plz Post a video explaining different types of glasses, wich one is the better for you to play, have the cleaner sound, and explain how to make a table like that to hold the glasses.

I want to know what technique do you use to play, because in my house are some glasses that i can´t take a clean sound.

  • DIOSSS un alma caritativa que lo subtitule al español... :´(

  • Hey, how do you know wich glasses need to be tuned, you said 10 dont need tuning how do i know wich ones are? :o

    Thanks.

  • ... I have to pee now...

  • What do you use to make the glasses fixed in place?

  • Extremely helpful! Thank you.

  • does it have to be crystal glass?

  • @Rockysbeats also do you need something under the glass?

  • Robert! You inspired me to learn this instrument. I play piano, but always wanted to learn something else. I bought the glasses, chromatic tuner, already playing some tunes with chords. But I don't know how to make them same level, what to put beneath them and how to fix, so that they don't shake or move. Sometimes glasses don't want to sound at all, I think, that's when they are not very clean. I'd appreciate your response and thanks for your beautiful music

  • Robert! You inspired me to learn this instrument. I play piano, but always wanted to learn something else.I bought the glasses, started to play some tunes, even with chords. But I don't know how to make them same level, what to put beneath them and how to fix to make them stable, so that they don't move. Sometimes they don't want to give any sound, I think, that is when they are not very clean.

I would appreciate your responce. Thank you very much for your beautiful music.

  • What do you do to the recording to make it sound so much cleaner? I know the difference can't be entirely in the mics

  • @drumstyx6464 Normally I record using 4 condenser mics and a digi003 soundcard,

and mix the tracks adding some effects.

this video was shot using only a cheap digital camera. The sound is terrible but this

video is only meant to show the tuning procedure.

  • @roberttiso You, sir, are a true genious. Do you have one glass for each note, i.e. 3 octaves of 12 semitones?

  • how much would you say all the crystal glasses put together would caust? and i was also wondering how many small mediam and large glasses are needed for the instroment.

  • Hey Robert,

    Thanks for the response!

  • so how do you know whats the first note supposed to be?

  • Comment removed

  • Does it take a certain glass to make a sound or something?

  • @UsagiKou1 you need glasses with stem.

the stem leaves the bowl free to vibrate

  • @UsagiKou1 Well you should have crystal glasses you can tell if its real crystal by puting some water in it and wetting your fingers and rubbing around the rim of the glass and if it gives off a sound then its real crystal

  • @FallenAngel2737 What is crystal? If you mean a mixture of silicon and lead

none of my glasses are crystal. Glasses with lead are banned in EC because lead is highly toxic. Anyway any glass with stem will resonate, but some will make a nicer sound than others. All I do is select the ones I prefer.

I don't choose the glasses by the size but the pitch the have when empty, it must be close and higher than the note they will be assigned.

They are not very expensive, max. 5 € and min. 50 cent.

  • @FallenAngel2737 Nah, I get any old cheapo glass to create a sound. I find thinner glass is much easier to get resonating than thicker glass. My mother-in-law has a huge brandy sniffer that is a very thin glass. That thing can pump out some nice bass tones. =D

  • Wait, do you have to tune it every time you play? Because if the water levels make the instrument in tune...you couldn't just leave the water in....at the end, you have the notes for the keys, er, glasses, there are no flats. Why? It's so much more confusing than piano!

Is each glass one note, and can't be turned into a flat or sharp or normal by the water? That would make it AWFULLY difficult to play I'd think!

  • Thats very interesting =)

  • Thank you for making this video. I now understand.

  • grande Robi! io mi alleno quando lavo i calici!! eheheh ;-)

  • Awesome, I finally got to hear you speak (:

Keep up the excellent music my friend.

    Cheers,

    Victoria, British Columbia Canada

  • Does it ever hurt your head getting to the last part? I know I had to turn the volume down...

  • Instead of e-mail messages, I thought of female messages. XD

  • That's very interesting. I was curious about how you did that.

How fast does it go out of tune due to evaporation?

  • @msdiediedie that's a pretty good question...

  • @msdiediedie It will stay in tune all day, evaporation has never been a problem

for me. Some times it goes slightly out of tune if the water is not the same

temperature of the place I play. I quickly retune before playing.

  • ˚A˚ I wish I had a Glass Harp.

And not all your messages were from females ima dude and i love your work ^^

  • that's really hard.. and you did practically build the "instrument" from zero =P
