  • A Hero of Our Time... Lermontov's 19th-century adventures of a melancholic army officer resonate still in contemporary Russian concerns...

Great translation by the way. Congrats!

  • Lermontov was actually was very fond of Fennimore Cupper and before writing a novel he entertained the idea to write something similar, adventurous, but set in Russian reality. What came out was something quite different – the first Russian psychological novel. It offers many levels of depth and therefore it’s a good read in any age. Also to a Russian reader this novel offers a whole different level of “dearness” that cannot be translated. God bless you.

  • a burden is shed from the soul, doubt swiftly disappears, belief returns and so do tears and all is light and clear.
