I once saw a band called Free Spirit at the Fillmore West-they were a First Nations band and played Witchy-Tai-To...I wonder if this was Jim Pepper's band at the time...they were fabulous and I never forgot the tune, though I have never heard it again till today!! Thanks YouTube!!!
thanks for this post. i learned about jim pepper from percussionist adam rudolph who worked with him. it's great to see someone realize their musical vision, especially with such sincerity and connection to their cultural roots. you should contact adam re the festival or to interview him about jim. he has a website. keep up the great work. i hope more people can hear pepper's music.
Today, wichy-tai-to popped into my head, having heard it only twice back in 1969 on an AM radio station in New Hampshire. I had no idea there was any interest in it. I tried occasionaly over the years to buy it, but no one had ever heard of it. So today I Googled it and here it is! I had remembered it exactly after 38 years. It's great to see Jim Pepper has so many fans. It's been a good day!

Jim Pepper, I think, is the inspiration for The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper"!
