If you replace the acetone with filtered gasoline, you have homemade napalm. If you add benzene into that, you have the napalm that was used in the Vietnam War. @VinnieDain424 Yes! That's all it becomes. When enough styrofoam dissolves that it won't dissolve any more, you can leave it out for about 3 minutes and it will be moldable. Mold it and wait longer for all of the acetone to evaporate, and you have yourself a plastic creation. To make it moldable again, just add some acetone to it,

Actually, actone isn't *that* toxic. Sure, I would not drink it or get a very large amount on my skin, but it is basically the oxidized form of isopropanol. It's not much more toxic than ethanol, and it is produced naturally in the body, albeit in small amounts. Still, I did this at work once with a full box of packing peanuts and took the resulting goo and had fun using as a napalm substitute. Just don't breathe in that black smoke!

I know styrofoam is basically tiny plastic air bubbles, but that still looked pretty cool watching those big chunks dissolve into nothing in that bowl. My only concern is that you seemed to be doing this indoors, and I know from my own experience using acetone that it can give me a headache if I use it too much even in an area with a lot of ventilation.

Styrofoam pellets are extremely polluting. They're so light a small draft can take them flying away and they end up in the environment. In water birds it the pellets thinking they're fish eggs. They end up dying of starvation. All that sh*t finds its way into the Pacific Garbage Patch.

Be good to the earth and play with natural materials. This stuff is very very nasty.

lol it's 95% air so only 5% of it is plastic...it's not a black hole lol....but still pretty cool to watch....so imagine that bag is actually 2 cubic inches of polystyrene with about 2 cubic feet of air being dipped into the acetone...2 cubic inches of polystyrene can easily react with that much acetone...and the air....goes back into the air
