I'm suffering from Hypothyroidism too. My TSH is 11,6 - but although I'm taking hormones my weight stays the same. I somewhat doubt that there is a considerable weight gain.
This guy is so right. I've been big my whole life, came from a long line of big women who all had thyroid problems. After suffering for 30 years, I've finally been diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease and found a doctor who gives me thyroid extract. After I had my gall bladder removed though, that's when it became impossible to lose weight. A dietician told me I don't eat enough! Its a vicious circle, hopefully the thyroid meds will help.
I gained a lot of weight too - but with or without medication, my weight doesn't change at all. The only thing I notice is: A better digestion on medication. Well, I'll try to get a combination of T4 and T3 now...
I have fibromyalgia, and do all the exercise i can and feel like doing. My mom passed away in 2004.at that time i weight was 115pds. before she passed,i had alot of energy.but i cried alot and sat around alot, but did not eat much.about 5 or 6 month's after her passing i stared putting on weight.my wieght stayed at 115 to 118 untill i was 56.but my weight gain started like i mention before 5 or 6 month after her passing.could it be my thyroid's causing the weight gain?
This doc is cool, needs to make more vids and do a peer reviewed paper and get the message out.
Anyone who wants advice could join the 'stopthethyroidmadness' chat groups or the TPA UK groups (thyroid advocacy UK) for advice and help. I have had great help from these.
Question: How could I get a no cost tyroid exam if I don't have any health insurance? I'm an unmarried stay at home mom. My son and his father have insurance, but I do not. Is there any way that a no cost exam is available for me?
Here, here. I hate our healthcare system!!! The endos take our thyroids, we gain weight, and they tell us it's not the thyroid. I'm not a brain surgeon, but they seem to be related!!
i had to practically 'beg' to see an endo w my insurance. at first, my primary said that my thyroid can't be blamed for all my probs. i sat there thinking..never had this probs til thyroid issues. i finally got referred...and had to ask to be put on cytomel. it has helped some, but i can't get regulated. i want to try armour, but i have kaiser, who tests only TSH for most part, and definitely will talk you out of surgery or armour. it's frustrating to say the least!

Great video.
I wish more doctors explained this condition as clearly as this doctor here.

Good video. But rebounders are much more then $20. Good ones start at $200 but worth it.

@weavelicious go to charity care in your local hospital... they can help you... but you have to prove that you have avery low income.

I think I might have hypo...
"depression" (or like symptoms)
cold feet and hands even in warm conditions
fatigue/ no energy
extreme weight gain over 2 years
but most doectors refuse to treat with armour, or even diagnose by anything other than TSH...no free T3 or free T4 testing. Our healthcare sucks...

I think you should look for another doctor. If this does not work, then...try another country, like Canada, for example.
It is very important to check those hormones!!! very important! don't let this pass.
Have a healthy, bright day.
