Now these guys are The REAL DEAL. Also, the original name of the group is... "LOWRIDER". Yes, it's true! The changes this group has endured is an atrocity. They deserve better! Vote them into The ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME.
@lowriderbandfan Thanks! I'm just being honest. I heard the copy band called War and they sound like a copy band. They tried, but they will never become and create the original vibe of the real War band. All the money in the world can't change the facts. I just wish they traveled to Chicago or Milwaukee so they could see how much we love and miss them. Peace!
THE REAL WAR! These guys should come to Honolulu! I'd go and see them in a heartbeat! Too bad Lonnie Jordan (an original member) is touring with the FAKE "War". PLEASE, LONNIE, COME HOME TO THE REAL WAR; THE OTHER GUYS NEED YOU!!!
I saw them bout 20 years ago at a place called Gussie L'amour's near the Honolu airport. Lonnie was there, Papa Dee also. They were awesome. These guys are the real WAR. Lonnie needs to sing why cant we be friends and tell Jerry G to shove it.
Folks...PLEASE, if you are a fan of the REAL WAR, pick up the latest issue of WAX POETICS MAGAZINE. THESE GUYS ARE ON THE COVER! In-depth story! No TRUE War fan should be without it!
I was at the WAR concert in Rotterdam 1976 or something on their European tour, it was awesome, those dudes are forever in my heart. Gonna plug them bigtime :) Today my boss informed me my pay got blocked and possessed 'cause I didn't pay a frigging bill for.....20 euros lol, now i'm chilling with you guys :)
Keep cool guys and i'll slip into darkness with you :) Haha the end of times is nigh so i'm gonna sell my el cheapo watch, and enjoy
Yes, finally the REAL War! Thanks for posting!!! Why is Lonnie the only one w/ rights to the name??? I've really missed them over the years. I own all their LPs and NEVER missed them whenever and wherever they were in Chgo...was even at the High Chapparel EVERY night when they recorded "WAR...LIVE" in 1972...unforgettable experience...seems like just yesterday... I really hope they soon get back to the midwest/Chicago for some more performamces. I'll be 1st in line for tickets.
I like the way they have the "LOWRIDER BAND" logo with the word 'band' between the W and the R, to make it look like 'WAR'! Google them. This is the real WAR! Sh!t on jerry goldstien and, Lonnie, come back.
Well...if your just tuning in : You know of the real 'truth' behind who the real WAR is and the bogus and cheap imitator's are now don't you?
Explore the LOWRIDER Band, and don't hesitate to do some research on the internet. 'Google' around and expand your knowledge.
"Slippin' Into Darkness" peaked at number 16 on Billboard's 'Hot 100' on 11 April 1972. And was on the charts for ten (10) weeks ! And every white kid I knew (back in the day) purchased a copy of "All Day Music" and loved it !
good info. my young ass never new. All you older folks share this knowledge. it truly is real music at it's finest. Most of the younger generation became awhere of this ground because of there parents and carshows. i can put this the OG group on for my kids and they will jump up and start singing and dancing on the spot. not even pop or MTV or BETV has the same affect on them. Thank u all for still keeping it real.
I saw these guys in Riverside at the Mission Tobacco Lounge fathhers day 2 years ago and they just blew me away. Too bad they seperated but TLB is the bomb and I'd see them again and they are really wonderful guys.
I found this because I saw the Lowrider Band last night in SF and they BLEW MY MIND. I am a jazz fan more than rock and pop and know good musicians and these guys kicked ass big time. I was stunned. I have seen hundreds of shows, I was even at the Monterey Pop Festival and this was among the best I have ever seen.
@heybert05, Hi. With all the BS legalities that Jerry Golddigger has placed on the OG's of WAR, they probably don't advertise as well as they could. Because if the LOWRIDER BAND even mentions the NAME WAR (that THEY made famous), their show gets cancelled by that loser Jerry, and he slaps another lawsuit on them. It's great that you even know of the LRB and at least you can keep an eye and ear out if they are around where you live. Hope you get that chance, 'cause they still kick ass! Peace.
what can i say about these artists. They changed my life since i was a kid.I love this music all these years and continue to love it.The sound of harp by Lee is awesome !!!
LOVE THE OG's FOREVER!!!!!! Lonnie needs to bring his ass on back to the REAL DEAL! Even if it means leaving the WAR name. It's all about the music, and the LOWRIDERBAND is where it's at!! Thank you guys for still getting out there and doing your thing. Delivering the word. Love ya, WARQUEEN.
Does anyone know the WAR album (and/or song name) where the lyrics are kinda spoken and "seem" to be about Fidel Castro? One line is "remember, Ana?".....very cool tune i haven't heard in 25 years.
Sounds great! I remember listening to all the WAR albums starting when I was a porr, 8 yr. old white boy in upstate NY. Now I'm older, not quite so poor, not in NY, and, yes, still white - and still listening to WAR! But these guys made me into a fairly decent, so I'm told, percussion player by modeling the stuff they did. And the roadie in checking the monitors? Do it before the gig, between sets....that's as bad as tuning your guitar on stage through the P.A.
You guys still got it !! looking forward to seeing you guys jam at Viejas casino SanDiego May 2 2009 ...what a great comeback to hear the orignal members sounding tight and making new music
Fantastic video. My classmate (Howard Scott) still sounds good. Don't get to hear music like this anymore. Some of the best oldies; all my friends and myself get together and have fun talking about the good old days and Lowrider/War!
I just found out about TLRB. I knew that Lonnie was touring/recording under WAR, and I wondered where the other guys were. Now I know. This reminds me of the whole Dave Gilmour/Roger Waters thing with Pink Floyd. My boys are all getting older and need to bury the hatchet and ALL hook back up!

Yes, that tune is called "Fidel's Fantasy" (a Papa Dee Allen composition) and it's off of their 1st album without Eric Burdon; the self-titled "War".
