There is a diff between dragon fish and arowana.Arowana is the real type.U can tell the difference by looking at the tail.if ur arowana/dragon fish's tail is normal like koi fish type,its an arowana.if ur dragon fish's tail is like the tail of the arowana above,its dragon fish

Your right, it's a big fish, but only as big as any silver arowana. As a reference you can see him swim past airline and then to the right of the tank you see the piping for the sump. I'd guess he's about 24".

Sorry to tell you but your silver arowana isn't really very big to tell you the truth. You mentioned that it may be 12''. To me it looked about 20''...they do get larger to about 4 to 4 1/2 feet long in captivity. They can get up to 6 to 7 feet in the wild. I've seen some at the 4 foot range, so your arowana is not the largest in the world......and no I am not jealous or envious about you having a moderate sized juvenile.
