Hi, i just got some pet yabbies, they are little babies, yours is a great colour, and i was just wondering how you turned it blue? like do you put anything in the water, or have your tank light up, special food, blue background?
It varies, depending on what type of Yabbie you have. Some have a natural blue colour.
With the ones i have it depends on the water.
Very Clean Water = Blue.
Algae in Water (Excessive Sunlight) = Green.
Tannins in Water (From Wood) = Rusty Brown.
Yabbies are messy eaters and the water gets polluted quickly. So change about 30 to 40% of the water every 2 weeks. After they shed their shells a few times, hopefully you will get anything from a light blue to the dark blue you see here. Good Luck
The Green one was in my Community Fishtank with drift wood and plants. But I had to move him when he got too big and started attacking the fish, haha.
He has now gone a light blue colour after shedding his shell twice.
