For me, i interpreted it as a person that was in a relationship but there was really no feeling in it, "I missed all the signs, one at a time you were ready" means that the partner wanted to go forward but the person didn't notice this and now is hoping that the relationship might come together again- "Should i wait for you to call, is there any hope at all"
