"lustra" is a great album. i don't think norton's production is to blame for it not being a hit. it's just one of those weird things that happens. sometimes bands fall out of favor for reasons that are impossible to figure out. thanks for posting this video.
@logicalcorrelation There seemed a huge delay in the album coming out. The demos and live versions sounded far superior to the polished album and the artwork was astonishingly terrible. Epic wanted another Radiohead and polished everything up to try to achieve that or so it appeared. Great live shows.
92 to 97 was the best time of my life, and so was the music.echo belly sleeper elastica garbage lush and loads of brit bands.wish i could go back in time.
This single wasn't one of their biggest hits, but the album it came from I regard as their best. It came out on my birthday in 1997, the same day as Pulp's "Help The Aged", I think. The album's called Lustra and every track is a corker. I still play it a lot on my iPod. More than any of their other albums, actually.
Don't think so. Bjork was never mentioned anythime. Possibly that may be due to Sonya having a very clear pronounciation as does the wonderfull Icelandic Pixie.
yep i hear this in a few times in this song...the bjork connection as well as some kind of things in the song who vaguely reminds me to mansun (who were big at that time) ... but i think that the connection between echobelly and those artists are not clear enough...to makes clear parallels... but it will not surprise me if in echobelly 'wide!' records collection we found a bjork and z 1st mansun record!
good song ...unbelievable that i discover them with this one...their last single to chart!

@ seanytwonk: I always thought she sounded a bit like Morrissey - esp. on the 1st album.

Possibly the sexiest tune since "love is strong" by the stones. Rude love with this behind me makes me strong.

She sometimes sounds quite "Bjork-ish" bits of various songs, I wonder if either influenced the other?
