OK for the record, the scene at the end, the girl Lucy was with had just killed her dad because he was going to rip up a picture of her mom, who had left them. They went to hide in a mall where her mother was doing an art display.

The tragic part is, that when she was getting wheeled away to the hospital, her mother passed right by her.

It's not wholly Lucy's fault she's the way she is. she was ostrascized from people since she was born. She was picked on and treated cruelly by her peers--even her teachers and caretakers treated her poorly and labeled her a freak. Her only real friend was a small stray puppy, whom was later killed by a bunch of her classmates because her human friend told them about her pup(even though Lucy made her promise not to since she knew what would happen to it).
