Damn nice truck! I was working on one of these about 20 years ago doing a tune up.
I pulled the plug wires off to get the plugs out, and for some reason I went to turn the motor over by bumping the starter, and the Jeep started running! To my surprise, I had left one of the plug wires laying on the head and it was getting enough spark to keep it runninn. One heck of a rig!!
@crowpeak That is an amazing story! Thanks for sharing it! I learned a lot about these trucks in the time that I owned it and you are right, these are truly amazing rigs! I'd love to own another one some day.
could u just imagine someone with this, an fj40,defender,willy's jeep,g wagon and all those historic pioneers of 4 wheel drive vehicle..it would be heaven
5.13 dana 44's? i want those in my yj lol. i have seen one of these converted into a fire truck that is in near mint condition sitting in the back of a fire hall. i should ask em how much they want for it haha.
Maybe so, but most of the world (I don't know where you posted from) was built on around 150 horspower or even less. It's only been recently that we really started getting real big horsepower numbers consistantly in all cars and trucks, mostly cars. Most Ford, Chevy, and Dodge trucks still have about 250 or a little more, ON AVERAGE. I know there are some models that have more, so don't get on my case.
