Truth be known, a portable GPS or a cell phone Will Not interfear with our avionics. They are miles away in bandwdth. Come on, if they were even remotley threatining, they would not be allowed on a commercial airline.....
If I were sitting next to you, I would've bopped you on your head to turn the stupid GPS off! What do you not understand about electronic devices onboard a plane, especially during takeoff? Yes I know it is just a receiver, but if everyone else has to comply with devices, you should too.
Hopefully next time the stewards will grab it from you.
It work perfectly, I used one a couple of days ago on a commercial flight between Pakistani cities of Islamabad and Sukkur, just like in the video, I stuck it with window and no crew had any objections.

The only devices that would interfer with plane navigation systems and radios would be things that transmit via Cell Phones and what not. receving devices don't do anything
Wouldn't it be cool if the Garmin interfered with the flight controls of the plane and we saw this dude crying and peeing himself as he lost altitude, plummeting to his imminent death?!
Why would a gps receiver mess with an airplane? People are such idiots. It's a "receiver" meaning it's a passive system, only receiving signals that are already in the air through an antenna It's not a transmitter of any sort.
DOesn anybody know of any aviation gps softyware for gps enabled pda windows mobile devices? IT would be great to have all the airways information and vors E.T.C.
Is this a commercial flight? I didn't think you actually get any reception through the aircrafts fuselage. Ill haver to try my pda/gps with copilot live. It cant interfere with the aircrafts navigation system can it as that uses gps to
You should have tried to find the nearest McDonalds.

Go to navigation menu, tap Route Preference tile and select off-road when you are using it on a plane.

"alrite"? Maybe you should spend less time melting your brain with halo and more time with hooked on phonics.

It is now fully legal to use a GPS receiver on a plane providing you are 10,000ft and above.

And also that planes have been using GPS way longer than cars have.
His GPS is simply receiving the same signal as the device in the cockpit.
You are right, people are idiots. They don't understand electronics.

@BottleBuzz : Do GPS devices interfere the aircraft system?
elevatorgeek762 1 year ago
Huh? Planes use GPS satellites to navigate.
The GPS readings one gets on a plane are from the satellites. :)
