The artists who performed this dance did not claim to be taditional Tunisian dancers. The perfomance was interpretive. Coming from a culture not of Tunisia, we wanted to celebrate all cultures in this show. Please take it as a compliment that we admire the art and did our best to research with out a traditional teacher. Layla Hadad was my teacher, but in workshops. All three are trained in other dance forms. The performance is an ex pression or our appreciation. Blessings in dance-Amina

Very nice music and dance combos are interesting and dynamic ..... unfortunately the Tunisian technique for hip twisting etc. is totally absent ..... the sharqui way is backwards to the Tunisian .... foot/knee placement and weight is all wrong ... you have it backwards here... ... technique is essential to an ethnic dance ... wrong foot work = wrong dance ; it ain't about feeling ... you add that to the technique through the music ..... not the other way around.
I give it an "A" for effort, but a "C+" for technique & feeling. I see that it's a little difficult for dancers who bellydance to fully understand Tunisian. It's feeling & they are putting a bellydance feeling into it. The hips are still 'lifts' & the steps are off & should be with the base (dom) beat (they are sometimes stepping on the 'tek' beat)& they are still not as 'earthy' as described earlier. Keep practicing 'cause it's 70% feeling & 30% technique in Tunisian dance ;)
Hi there! Please see the vid with Samir Loucif posted by dedebb: youtube(dot)com/watch?v=NQwtrDBq30g
The rhythm is fazzani btini 8/8. Teh moves are a little softer, but in Tunisia, if one dances to Tunisian music, it's folkloric style, not sharqui. The ladies are stepping on the dom(bass) beat. The thigh is attached to the hips when dancing so as dancer steps forward, hips also twist & when the reverse turn (step back/rev arabesque), the thigh lifts along with hips.
Also, the fabric on sleeves simulates bounawara style(as if holding scarves). They are wearing Tunisian hats which are Turkish influence. Nice dance, soft moves, but very cheeky. Will try to post more if u want
Also, if you want a little faster/active dance, review my vid too: youtubeDOTcom/watch?v=1_RcjfdIQgg
The rhythm is fazzani, but played faster, song Ya Zitouna- the olive skinned girl. Basically I keep the energy in the hips & not put the enegy in the footwork, when I step it's the hips that are moving the feet. Thanks

I think they did a great job! Perhaps it's the video quality that is not portraying them in a good light.
