  • I knew the board when I was 7 years old, trust me he wasn't a genius it was just a simple board that was pretty limited.

  • He was the Charles Van Doren of the 1980s.

  • Michael Larson was the Ken Jennings of his day.

  • Wow that is so smart! Is it really cheating if you just figure out how it works? Its not like he tampered with the board

  • I always knew this had a pattern without even watching it for long.... however the thing about 4 and 8 no having whammies is a huge mistake.

  • The statement made at 5:14 is only partially true. Other tiles had no whammy as well but Michael target 4 and 8 because each cash prize on those tiles also had an extra spin so that's how Michael went on and on and on and on until he decided he won enough from them.

  • The skill here wasn't an awesome memory, it was amazing concentration and timing more than anything.

  • This guy deserved his money. This isn't cheating anymore than practicing hitting pitches repeatedly to be sure you hit the ball every time is cheating.

  • This is an example of how to con a game show, the idiot in the How to be a Millionaire con is how 'not' to con a game show

  • 04:19 - At least, Michael Brockman was a good enough sport to laugh at CBS' mistake of having only five light patterns on the PYL Big Board.

  • As Peter said for him to remain focused and maintain his concentration with all that around him on stage and still hit the patterns was pretty incredible. One mishap of coordination would have put him on the opposite end of the record run, aka "The biggest money lost in the show's history".

  • Am I the only one who thinks bits of Peter's naration is somewhat chilling?

  • @DorvellTStewart It's not the narration, it's his narration COUPLED with how creepy Michael is.

  • There was five patterns to the board. I never knew this was the Achilies heel

  • and the patterns were small enough to remember. If they increased with pattern by doubling it or even 4 times it would have been impossible to remember

  • You ever seen any of those guys that take a deck of shuffled cards, memorise the order in 10 minutes and can recite it perfectly? Or the guy that memorised pi to 10.000 places?

Never underestimate some peoples' crazy good memories.

  • It's actually not that difficult. I'm just an average guy (but, then again, so was Micheal), but I can memorize a pack of cards easily; you just need the right system. For example; I associate the ace of spades as the word as the word "stop"; the eight of clubs, "cough", the king of diamonds, "duck". Then, I link them together in order (think of coughing on a stop sign, a duck coughing, etc.), and just run through the order.

Memorizing anything is extremely simple if you just know how.

  • Michael Larson is the man! A pure genious!

  • @alexbluegrass It's "genius" genius. ; )

  • It hurts when others are dead right.
