Just received my order from Baker Creek and was very impressed with their selection and speedy delivery. Have ordered from Johnny Seeds as well and had nothing but good from them.
I can't believe this, I was just on the Blackbird site and looking at their seeds, and reading about the chicken that ate the scorpion! I was going to order from them, and now I'm sure of it. It's nice when others share what they buy, it helps the confidence level. I just love your videos, and plan on trying some of the perenials this season too. Thanks for sharing, it really encourages me, and gives me so many new ideas.
@Sheila6325 you're welcome sheila, thank YOU, for the kind comment. It's very appreciated!! I'm with you, the crew at blackbird, and the seeds they're offering are GOLDEN!! What puts it over the top for me, is that they're living it, growing it, and being it!! Such great examples, and heroes of mine!! Yah, that scorpion/egg post was phenomenal, I can't wait have chickens, so I can emulate the example the blackbird crew is setting. Those are the best fed chickens in all of the land.
Just ordered a batch of seeds of the good stuff we eat from Baker Creek Heirloom seeds for my wife for Christmas. Check them out, you will like the price and the amount of organic heirloom seeds you get. I am going to be most curious about the wild strawberries... I dream of an out of control strawberry situation in my life! Happy seed collecting-CJ
@sandworm3 Right on my friend!! Thanks for sharing that! I've heard nothing but good things about Baker Creek!! I have yet, to order from them, but they're next...such a wide variety!! Any others you find and like, please post them here...I'd love to learn about more companies. That goes anyone else reading this too...please post your favorite seed companies.
Ohhhh boy...cheers to wild straweberries...may they take over the WORLD!!!!!!!
I love your videos, they are so inspiring. Thank you for showing us different seed companies that have heirlooms available. I hope next years garden proves better. I'm still trying to enrich the soil here, and NW Washington growing season is fickle to say the least.
@gypsy1961 Hello my friend!! Thanks for the kind comment, always great to hear from you. Cheers to next years garden, it's going to be the best yet, for all of us. I'm always improving my soil too...I love the process...love it! Check out the new "Soils" dvd, by Geoff Lawton...it's ammmmazing!! Great preview on a video titled "Permaculture or Industrial Agriculture?"
@burleyc1 I heard such rumors too, so we called down there, and they say it's not true. There's a company with a similar name out there....sort of riding the wave. Sounds like they're bummed about it...such is business and the way of it.. But yes....seed savers ROCKS....they have the most seeds by far!!
@burleyc1 thanks for sharing that info though, if we all use such wisdom, these major corporations can't sneak in and buy up these little seed houses..and if they do we just stop supporting them. For that very reason, the work of companies like Seed Savers Exchange is VERY important. Kent Whealy's life's works is very inspiring...hope everyone reading this check's out that website and supports it FULLY!!!
@zml59 Yes. Most goji's on the market are the chinese varieties, that are adapted to the cold. They're truly an adaptogenic plant...they'll grow in most climates on earth. Have fun!
Hi Jake - that's a fantastic video - I love the way you store your seeds - we'll be using your video for our Q&A on seed storage. We're calling our little tins "DNA Treasure Vaults"!! Seeds are a treasure for sure - thanks for the inspiration on your collection and proper storage. Big hugs, xo Andrea
@PrudenceHealthGuide Thanks Andrea!! I appreciate all the info you all at Blackbird are sharing...I'm learning a TON..and being inspired daily! haha....I love that name, DNA treasure vaults...so true! That's exactly what they are.
I don't own any gold or silver, but I have these little guys...and treat them as sacredly as the precious metals. :)
Thanks for bring such sacred seeds to market...I'm very grateful for the work you're doing. BIG HUGS!
thanks for the info. i was just starting to look for organic seeds for my private 'doomsday seed vault' ;) i like the blackbird seeds - the packaging is great! now to find out some info on indoor growing.
@peacerebelgirl haha....yah...we should all have our own "doomsday seed vault." Seeds vaults/fridges just make sense to me. The Blackbird seeds are revolutionizing the way I grow...just makes sense to me, to plant something once, and let it flourish, and reproduce, that's what plants want to do!!!
Hmmm, indoor growing...I'm a fan of that. SO many books out there on the subject. One I really like is:
"Gardening Indoors with Soil and Hydroponics" by George F. Van Patten. INFO DENSE!
@rawutah thanks for the book recommendation. i've been trying to find the video that i watched a few months ago in which vandana shiva discusses the best and least favored ways of seed storage. i cannot seem to find it now, but in it she said wood was the best storage method, with plastic being the worse (naturally).
@sandworm3 I'm a fan!! Check out "Gardening Indoors with Soil and Hydroponics" by George F. Van Patten. GREAT BOOK! He's written a few...but this one is my fave! As far as solutions for the hydro...I like the idea of using ocean water at the proper dilution. But I dig all methods. MUCH more babysitting with hydro... than soil grown plants!!!!!!!!!
I like soil growing the most!!!!!!! Something to the MAGIC OF HUMUS..and WORMS!
@rawutah thank you, I will follow up. I would love the idea of bringing "hot house" tomatoes as gifts to people here in Minnesota during the winter months. I have a 400 watt lamp, now I just need to invest in a hydroponic system.
@sandworm3 I also like worms... I was brewing compost tea from my vermiculture castings and couldn't believe the blooms on my flowers this last summer. I keep those guys in my basement now.
That's a cool deal on the seeds, thanks, you're so into it that it sounds almost like you're talking about your family jewels for a minute there, but I get it man : ) Those are some good sources & the guys with the tins are super cool.
@omegahpla ohhh they are indeed the family jewels!!!! haha...not much precious metals to my name...but these little guys..are precious enough. I dig your all your vids brutha...cheers to microclimates...your veggies look AMAZING!!
@pinetar100 right on brutha!! Johnny's is SO great!! I dream of loading up on many of their varieties..BY THE POUND! What Anthony and Blackbird are doing with these wild perennials and food forests, just speaks to my soul!! These seeds are the absolute goods!! Check out all the vids on blackbird's YouTube Channel, cool stuff.
I wish Johnny's made more vids...they have few good ones on YouTube.

Seeds of Change is owned by M&M's corporation. Be careful supporting them. I recommend seed savers exchange instead.
