  • hey ben do you squat everyday? i've seen some amazing strength gains made by different people that squat everyday, but they don't crossfit - just the classic lifts. also, do you try to pr every strength training session? and is that daily or 2x daily? thanks and good luck this cf season.

  • fuck you are strong

  • Inspirational. Great work, Ben! Question: High-bar and low-bar back squat, do you train both?

  • Wow impressive shit right there, everyone of those PRs looked very comfortable. 5 stars :)

  • I thought you snatched 120kgs already.

  • @WestCoastGuidos Online. From Rehband.

  • Ben, I really do love the fact you train at a Globo gym. The looks you get behind you as you lift are truly priceless. Keep up the good work, sir!

  • Ben, What is the type of knee supports you use? I have been looking out for them but can't seem to spot them.

    Cheers.

  • hes going to hurt his knees the way he squats he needs to put more weight on his heals, enough so that he can lift his toes when hes squating

  • @caffeenmachine1 you are absolutely incorrect, also lets see your 405lb 5rm, cause i'd bet a good amount of money your one of those people that thinks they know everything about lifting but wont ever post their own shit.

  • @captainspoof101 i maxed last year at 435 and i havent gone that high since but i didn't take a video sorry. going that heavy frequently is really just not good for you period. the amount of pressure that it puts on ur knees and back especially is not good.

  • whats your bench 200 lbs?

  • Subscribed!

What training methods do you follow Ben?

    Westide, Russian Conjugate etc?

Would love to have a chat with you about programming!

  • @251087catman I follow my own training program, but sort of a combination of all the best training methods i've found and what works for me. I'm always trying something new

  • @cbsmit1234 do you ever mess around with low bar back squats?

  • @daverino88 No, I was always more comfortable with high bar squats

  • Wow, first person I've ever seen doing olympic lifts at ODU's gym. I must go at the wrong times.. Awesome lifts, but just to let you know the 45 plates only weigh 42, and the 35/25s are a pound off as well.

  • I remember when you were just a young buck! Such an honor to follow you to the road of the 3rd fittest cat PERIOD! Keep climbing, looking forward to seeing you crush it in Carson 2012

  • Wait a crossfitter with good form?

I'm in that weird part of youtube again...

  • Did you seriously add 50 pounds to your clean max in just two weeks!?! Keep up the good work Ben, you're a huge inspiration! Oh and also, how are the reebok oly shoes versus the adidas oly shoes? Are they just as stable even though they're more versatile? Thanks!

  • @bordercollielover100 Almost! I wish... Thanks a lot, Yeah honestly I like them a lot and they work really well for me!

  • @cbsmit1234 thanks for the fast reply Ben, I guess I'll be ordering some of those reebok oly shoes :) One other question, do you eat following the paleo diet or do you still eat dairy and carbs, but keep your meals healthy? I'm competing in the High School National Power Clean Championships in May and I'm right between weight classes. I'm still trying to increase my clean substantially so I want to figure out the best way to eat to help me accomplish my goals. Thanks a lot!

  • @bordercollielover100 I watch what I eat, but drink milk, eat potatoes and stuff, and have a cheat meal once a week too. I try to get between 4000-5000 calories/day so I have to add some of that stuff. Making sure i'm eating enough has really helped lately though.

  • Despite Crossfit, good job dude!

  • Damn Ben, seriously impressive.

How often do you squat on a weekly basis?

  • @Kolli1 Almost everyday now

  • Wow man,,,It looks like you are training at college. I go to Penn State myself and a junior. I've been crossfitting for a year and half now. I also go to the affiliate near here but started out crossfitting on my own and try to do a lot of strength at Penn State's gyms

  • @PrimalDNA That's great, Yeah I see a lot more people doing CrossFit stuff at our school gym now and people are always asking what my friends and I are doing and I feel like we're introducing a lot of people to it. It's Good Stuff! Thanks for the comment, good luck training!

  • @cbsmit1234 yeah man these videos are part of my workout playlist now. You are a beast! I thought i was okay for my size but you put me to shame. I live in Fred. Va. Im 21 and weigh 150. My best Power Clean is 205 5x when relatively fresh. It was only the 2nd time ever doing them though. Never knew about crossfit till recently watching crossfit on espn2. Then found your videos on here. They make me get in the gym more and work harder. Thanks. Keep up the good work.

  • Ben, love the videos and watching your progress! Do you follow any specific strength program to increase your PR's?

  • @tnt266 I don't have a specific program other than just lifting to max as often as possible

  • Just...WOW!

  • I really liked the way you set the snatch down.

  • Awesome work Ben...Wow! The snatch looked effortless and that last squat set was impressive!

  • AWESOME! Seriously each video you post is inspiring and each time i ask myself: How he can do that much volume at a big% or RM as often? I would really appreciate if you can tell me why yo do that and what are youre others exercices(Wod,Skills) you do ? Congratulations for your great progress and thanks for the response in advance:)

  • @morn010 Thanks! I've found that the best way to learn to lift heavy is to lift heavy, or go for a max whenever I feel I can. On top of the lifting you see, I do CrossFit Wods every day normally focused on conditioning.

  • @cbsmit1234 Ok thanks:) I notice too that when i go heavy on clean and snatch my lift gets better but not always easy to recover and avoid injury! With all the training methods theses days i don't know what to think! I think i'll try for 2 weeks to do what you are doing: Heavy Back Squat(Not that strong) compare to my squat and power clean, + squat snatch! Do you do some snatch and clean pulls before your lift?

  • @morn010 I don't do any extra pulls other than an occasional deadlift, but make sure you're getting enough food and rest and that will help with recovery and injuries. I really like squatting though, i'd say thats the best way to increase overall strength and power if you're gonna do anything.

  • @cbsmit1234 Ok! I don't think i could eat more haha i eat between 3500 and 4000 calories a day at a bodyweight of 172 and my bodyfat percentage is low! I stretch a lot so it definitely helps! Thanks for taking the time to respond and keep posting your videos, you're a BIG source of motivation!

  • LOL at 0:38 seconds during the 355 clean where the guy in the white t-shirt on the right stops what he's doing and just shakes his head like "holy crap"
