careful not to eat too much.. durian raises ur body temperature and you will get what thai people called 'ron nai' and ur lips/tongue r gonna swollen to twice its' original size. i've had that before :P heh heh just drink lots of water after eating durian eh ... enjoy !

A reminder to all who are gonna try Durian: Don't eat too many you'll get sick, honest!

Another reminder, If you happen to visit a tropical country like Thailand, try to eat something that has chillies in it(like Som Tam), it helps your metabolism, it's a proven fact!

Durian's smell isn't kinda like rotten fruit or something. It's has a strange sweet smell i can't find any comparison because its unique.

Some people say it smells stinky, some people say it's heavenly so i guess it's comes down to personal tastes.

She has ordered one of the world's finest salads called Som Tam, made from shredded raw green papaya and amazingly delicious. As the Isaan song goes...

"Tam poo sai maeng da, Som Tam pla ra tam tai ga-mee!"

However, it is unwise to order prepared raw food in Thailand from any restaurant due to the vast amount of enteric diseases that could be contracted there. These are not just viral or bacterialogical in nature, either. There are many parasites there that may be asymptomatic for years.

Only if I buy a whole uncut Durian and open it myself, would I trust eating the flesh in Thailand without soaking it first in 3% peroxide to kill any bacteria.  This is true in Chanthaburi but especially Durian flesh bought on the street in Bangkok!

Singapore has the most Durian, and the brightly-lit Durian shops of Geylang district stay open 24/7.

You can easily get sick if you pig out on Durian, however, since it's so rich.

Yep, love Thailand, love Malaysia etc. Alas organic has only started there. Some of the farmers are getting cancer and other diseases from the heavy use of pesticides. They inject durian and mango trees with class A poisons to prevent viral pests. During my visit to Malaysia we stayed with a farmer whos wife had cancer, and he had ME, both they believe as a result of the heavy and unprotected use of presticides.

When I lived in Hong Kong, I hopped over to Thailand for a holiday- and it was and still is my FAVORITE place in the world! From the climate, fresh produce, sweet people and how utterly inexpensive it is, Thailand RAWKS! Kup kun ka! Bless xo
