i have stupid problem. In steam i have Orange Box, and Left 4 Dead 2 ... but in browser where we can found a textures, I haven't any road textures. How can i fix that?
A little confused here: In the video you say the size of a two lane road is 256 and a four lane would be 512, while it does work some of the bigger vehicle's (the bus, semi-trucks etc) have problems fitting. Also I found that in a example map provided by valve (Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\sdk_content\mapsrc\zoo_urban_01.vmf) the size of a two lane road is 512 not 256. I was just wondering if there is a reason besides the scale of your scene or the pros in it to use one size or another?
@thacorpser 256 and 512 are base values you can use to create your roads. Sometimes you'll have to increase those values to a larger number. 256 and 512 are good values to start with, but they will vary based on your design.
also, i would like to know what the instance is composed of, or where i can find information on how to make that instance so that my skybox will work. thanks
@roninsmine yeah, but regularly, it would rotate w/o snapping to some type of rotation field. i figured out its in the 2d options to set the default rotations by 15degs.
actually i think u made the lanes too narrow compared to the size of a car or person. IRL, theres plenty of spaces on either side of a lane with a car in it for people to walk through..
@matnelson1 yea but that means nothing. we all know valve has some weird dimensions.. for example the prop_door dimensions is like 128 or something and much taller than the human models. also the models walk around with their arms wide open. and I was referring to real life.
@perfecttrunks2000 All depends on the road. 256 (2 lane), and 512 (4 lane) are average values to start with. Not all roads fit the template but having a starting off point that you can modify is whats important.

I suggest using a road of 384 units wide,it fits more realistically.

how did you rotate the brush by 90 degrees? what is the shortcut?
iamstormtrooper 1 year ago
@iamstormtrooper didn't he just use the texture rotation field (sorry not a hammer user) to rotate the texture?
