  • BEEN THERE???

  • I love Seger, all his songs as he feels what he sings, as we feel it when we hear them. This song, no matter what I'm doing, I have to just stop, close my eyes and listen to the beginning, it's that good. I have it on cd, but not on my pc, so thank you for posting it!! :)

  • one of the best underrated songs of alltime,it deserved more attention.both lyrics and music are wonderful.

  • I used to hear this on the radio ages ago. But recently the song is, well, in no man's land, I guess. Glad to see that I'm not the only one who loves this great but sadly ignored song.

  • This is one of those songs that I am so glad to have unintentionally stumbled upon!

  • Sanctuary never comes, without some kind of risk. This song is as good as it gets.

  • That's Bob Seger doing the guitar solo at the end. Cool!

  • Who can take you back to those carefree high school days better than Bob Seger? In the days before mortgages, work, kids,....to those summer nights having a few beers with your friends, talking about everything and nothing. His was the background music of a time you'll always remember and occasionally pine for....'strange how the night moves, when you just (didn't) seem to have as much to lose...'

  • There's NOONE on this planet like Bob Seger!!!!!!

  • One of Bobs best...love this song!

  • Who has not visited no mans land... Thanks for this great tune.. My opinion, your best

  • always great

  • Es ist original Bob Seger - The Best !!

  • the intro was like the intro of Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

  • @B3ASTxBLOOD I totally agree!! I have thought that many times.

  • back in ' 81 or so, this song was a b side on a juke box at my local diner. I used to play it all the time. lyrics make you realise the transience of life...

like shifting sand... like the people in and out of that diner, so long ago...

many now passed... out there in no mans land

  • bob u r awesome bro

  • my name is joannejessie..I went to see him in concert on Tues nite ( 2 nites ) ago and had 6th row floor seating at ACC in Toronto...STELLAR performance...he did not do this song, nor Main St...but he did do downtown train ....I much prefer his own stuff..He still has what it takes..not many ppl his age can pack a 20,000 venue decade after decade...then again, he is a legend...and thats what they do!!!

  • is it Joanne or Jessie or both? Thanks for the reply. When i first bought this album in 1980 as a teen. That should age me. Fire Lake was my favorite on this album. Still is a great song. I was never a huge Against the Wind fan. I like You'll Accompany Me better. But No Mans Land is the best song on the album. It is very haunting. I really like Shinin' Brightly also. Good for me is a great song. Actually this whole album is great.

  • this song gives us alot to think about...like a song that wrestles with my mind..while sounding good and this has always been my favourite....by far...sad to see it is not on the song list...c.mon Bob...this song is soooooooooooo loved....like you!!!

  • One victim lives the tragedy

    One victim stops to stare

And still another walks on by

    Pretending not to see

They're all out there in no man's land

'Cause it's the safest place to be

    But sanctuary never comes

  • Piękne i smutne

  • I was on a submarine in the 80's and this song described it so very well.Fair winds and following seas to all my fellow sub vets.

  • Tubbytoobs, couldn't have said it better myself.

  • @Keto5097 That's sad.

  • I had a kid tell me one time he could not relate to Bob's music I told him that's because you were forced to listen to that 90's grunge crap music that's why.

  • does Bob Seger play a mean acoustic?

  • I always played this song the night before I had to go offshore to work.

  • Bob Seger's songs are like stories he tells you while you take a trip with him, and for just a few fleeting minutes you get to visit those far off places in his soul that have given us such great timeless music. Seger is a world apart from the current vain and talentless hacks that call themselves musicians, when gone we will have lost an artist whose grace and depth of talent gave many of us the soundtracks of our lives, gave us that when listened to now gives the past clarity and brilliance.

  • @mysweeteventhorizon Amen to that! Well said.

  • @mysweeteventhorizon Amen well said

  • @mysweeteventhorizon I agree totally! I have been listening to him for 30 years and you just said it all, they don't have this kind of talent in the new music. Thank you

  • @janwalsh1000 Im 58 yrs old and i agree but there are two names out there i just found one by accident last wk. and the other one for quite a while. Amos Lee is really good writes his own songs just brilliant, not saying hes Seger but worthlistening to. And the other one is the best country artist out today. Jamey Johnson writes his own songs and he is unbelievable just so good if you like that music, give em a try see what you think throw me back a line or two dont be to hard on me though.

  • @chance501 I did look up Amos Lee, yes, he is good. Thanks for the info. I like different types of music, but mainly classic rock, but I like some country too. Thanks.......Jan

  • @janwalsh1000 Thanks for getting back with me, glad you liked Amos, Im a die hard Ronnie Van Zant and original Lynyrd Skynyrd fan pre 1977. You should give Jamey Johnson a listen hes really talented. Have a good one.

  • @chance501 I did look up Jamey Johnson and listened to a few of his songs. I liked him, one of his video was really good, it's called Playing The Part, very funny! I like him but, I love Bob Seger. Thanks..........Jan

  • @janwalsh1000 Yes that was the one with Mathew McConaughey in it, Well we all have our favorites and yours is definitely worth listening to. Have a nice week

  • true rockstar.

  • what a fcung blinder

  • glad y'all like the tune, could'nt find this 1 here so i had to post it ty for the comments

  • this song so frinkin amazen i cannot find the words thats needed to discribe how it makes me feel .

  • @star1969xxx I know the feeling. I cannot listen to this song unless i hear it about 10 times in a row

  • @LesSmith45 i no i just love it

  • Nearly brings me to tears each and every time I hear it. Bob Segar's is one of my mom's all time favorite singers and though mine happens to be Journey, this song is one of my favorite song probably of all time. I can listen to it over and over again and never tire of it's epic lyrics and powerful message. It continues to stand the test of time and be amazing. Thank you for sharing it.

  • My #1 ALL-TIME FAVORITE. A MAGNIFICENT and MAJESTIC song in every way! I agree with Powermaddd and company.... This song covers so much ground. Every time I play this song at open mics on my guitar, people ask who wrote it. I think it's a song that anyone can relate to in one way or another if they are paying attention. Billy Joel's "Leningrad" is my number 2. Thanks for sharing the beauty folks!

  • the haunting truths etched in this piece have stayed with me through the decades.

  • I agree with Powermaddd. Have liked this song best of all for about 30 years now. Bob Seger and Lynyrd Skynyrd pretty much sang my life story. LOL!!!

  • Skynyrd's great, too!! It's good to relate to a kindred spirit on these musicians.

  • I was just listening to Powermad's "terminator" then i go listen to no man's land and there you are.. weird. .. my favorite Seeger song too.

  • Right on, Man! Seger's a great, soulful, rock n' roller; Powermad's a great thrash band, though not as prolific. I love 'em both. Both great rockers.

  • Thank you. This is one of the best.

  • My favorite song of all-time. It covers so much ground and is applicable to any choice or dilemma we face. It fits any mood, any time, anywhere. Too bad this song wasn't a bit longer, as it feels just a little too short. And that's because it RULES!!! Thank you, Bob.

  • It does rule .. .doesn't it!!!

Head to toe, I get chills everytime I listen to it.

"It's the safest place to be ... "

  • Oh, yeah....

  • @Powermaddd Yes I agree with you, it is a wonderful song!

Too bad for me, I did not like this album at all, love Bob´s 70´s albums too much!

But this song is one of his best, really!! The best songs are always easy, how many chords are this one?

  • @ClubViking63 I use 4 standard chords for the verse, and then 4 power chords for the bridge. You know, I actually have some issues with "Against the Wind" album myself.... I think that 3 of its songs just don't belong there at all, either because it sounds too retro or because of shoddy production. I'd say it's Seger's first inconsistent album, though the other 7 songs that I think belong on it range from good to great. But I'm with you.... his 70s albums undoubtedly RULE.

  • @Powermaddd fk the bridges and frets its the words and the story and the chords it hits in hearts , Moron

  • @Tubbytoobs You did not understand the content of my last post. I never bashed the words or the story of Seger's music. I only said how I play one of his songs and how some of his songs sound a bit out of place on that one album. Besides, you should make sure that your spelling and punctuation are correct before you call someone a moron. Don't make Bob look bad, dude.

  • @Powermaddd How about The Distance, which was great.

  • @Powermaddd did you know this song was suppose to be the title of the album instead of Against the Wind? I read that. Bob wanted it to be the title track but i think the label wanted against the wind. Too bad this song is my favorite Segar song. It was not even an after thought on the album or the radio in 1980. I dont think I have ever heard it on the radio. How big would it have been if it had been the title track and first single.

  • @LesSmith45 i like it much better than Against the wind, which i love...but no mans land is haunting to me..and makes me think about choices..It should be released again and it would soar...i am sure of it

  • loves this song

  • How to create a Masterpiece....
