insurance companies are greedy the same way all companies are greedy - because their purpose is to make profits; corruption stems from huge profits, a lack of competition, and lax regulations; evil comes from the fact that the easiest way to increase profits is by limiting and restricting health care coverage - which many find to be an affront to human rights. a public insurance option would be non-profit, and the salaried bureaucrats overseeing it would have no incentive to maximize revenues.

United HC and CIGNA and all the others would like to see a mandate that everyone have HC insurance with little or no regulation, as in the Wyden-Bennett bill.
HR3200 proposes serious regulations on Insurers as well "choice" for the insured.

They denied me treatment or delayed treatment each time the doctor requested it.
I quit them and as a Veteran went to VA.
Now when my doctor thinks I need something - no arguing with 'the insurance guy'...it is just promptly done.

I think we should start a campaign to vote OUT anyone who supported these massive spending bills, the bailout, stimulus and budget. I think that after 2010 and 2012 that would leave 20 incumbents in out of 535 between the house and senate. Now that would be real change.

Michele Bachmann is no friend to libertarians; she's a pretender. For republicans, its politically advantageous to promote libertarian values after 8 years of massive deficit spending (highest before Obama when the economy was supposedly good). Prior to 2008, I never heard her talking about debt. She's a bandwagon jumper. She should thank Ron Paul for her "popularity". But maybe I'm wrong.

All I do know is that a few months ago when the ACORN 8 thing happened, she was the only congresswoman to stand up for them and against ACORN. She tried to take on Barney Frank and cut off their funding. So since I consider ACORN to be a blight on this country, she has my respect for that.

I'm bankrupt from paying for healthcare for every public employee (state, federal and local) already. Lining the pockets of the insurance companies which funded her campaign. Those kids she talks about will be paying much more for health insurance than increased taxes, she didn't mention that though. Just another attempt to scare the intelectually challenged.
