no it is not magnetic... I fixed mine old one several times the parts are kept together with a thin fishing line hidden among the small squares so with the light reflections they almost look invisible

ahhhh....... the old black one, that brings memories....

I've played with it so long that the wire simply gave up and snapped so I had to fix it...

that was over 17 years ago and it still works...too bad there is only the new version on the market with the chrome circles, or did anyone see any of this black ones somewhere?

i don't really know that much about rubiks magic, i just found it somewhere and it belongs to my brother, so i'm guessing the ones with other collors are recently manufactured

Yes, unless you want a real challenge. I figured mine out on the second day, lol. Easy solve. An easier way is to go to the free-floating rings, half-roll leftwards, reverse so you're at the place in the book that says to solve from there reverse then half-roll, then turn to the other side, do "the changer" from the top-right square and you're done.

I use this method but I figured it out on my own.

I can link them, and seperate them again all in under 30 secs.

You don't even have to do all that, theres a short cut. While seperated , just flip both sides on top, Then pull top an bottom out from underneath, flip it, then roll it over so that half a circle is in the upper right section.

Flip it over and mickey mouse should only be missing that right face cheek in the middle....then do the 6 step move to link them.

Yeah- look at the old cube contests- they'd start the cube at a random mixed up point (obviously they had to anyway.) But the challenge was to observe what state of disarray it was actually in and use SKILLS to manipulate it as necessary to move pieces one by one.

For the Magic Rings, they ought to put it somewhere in between finished and unfinished and see if the turd even knows which way is up. This just shows that he can fold paper airplanes- something a monkey can do. Fast? Who cares?
