in reply to bullzisnipr3, the reason his 1/8th was 216 and 1/4 only 198, is because the rocket is fueled up to however far eric feels comfertable at full throttle (not that you can guage the throttle, is off or on!) if he had fueled to the 1/4, his speed crossing the line would have been way over 300, and on a bike, having to stop in half a mile, is pretty scary business!
@APLMASCR1 he wouldnt have run over 300mph. 2 weeks ago at santa pod raceway he went for a new world record (which he already held) and Fuel the bike for a full pass, the result.. an epic 5.23 @ 248mph, but the most impressive thing about that run was the 1/8th mile incrementals . . 1/8 = 3.48 secs @ 230 mph. for all u metrik people that 0-360k/mh in 3.5 secs
quickest quarter mile time for a bike, 5.2 secinds- held by eric teboul hockheim 2009. quickest spedd, i think is eric again, 251 at shakespeare county raceway, 2009. cory hogan rode to a 250mph pass in atlanta (?) on a wheel driven top fuel bike.
quickest wheel driven bike i believe is larry 'spiderman' mcbride- 5.7 seconds.
Fast Rocket car? Here is the story: Kitty ONeil drove this same car on the Mojave Desert to a speed of over 400 mph in the quarter mile. She backed it up with a 396 MPH, 3.22 ET pass. This run was also the quickest quarter mile run in history. The car ran out of peroxide before it went through the 500-meter traps, but it still clocked 450 MPH. We had 1250 PSI in the tank on the last run and burned 30 gallons of peroxide.
Kitty ONeil didn't run the fastest 1/4 mile time on a drag strip, that was on salt flats. The fastest time ever recorded on a drag strip was a 3.583 @ 386.26 by Sammy Miller.
my dad races and about 99.999% of the time the 1/8th mile speed is alot faster then the 1/4 time on bikes/funny cars/alcohol drags because they have to let off before the line to ensure time to stop.
@bullzisnipr3 ye he wasn't acelerating over the finshline because there is no throttle on the bike. its literally an on/off switch and the bike will only stop when the fuel (hydrogen peroxide) runs out, lower terminal speeds just mean he didnt fuel the bike for a full run. @ weeks ago at santa pod he ran 5.23 @ 248mph. world record for a 2 wheels vehicle.
