I'm a huge Eminem fan, and "Beautiful" Iis what brought me here, but Queen + Paul Rodgers deserve credit too. And yes, the section that Eminem used in the song was edited to match the pitch of the rest of the song.

Eminem actually uses a version from the Queen+Paul Rodgers album/DVD Return of the Champions. This was a sort of return-the-favour. For their Return of the Champions tour (2005-2006) they used Lose Yourself as the final song on the Pre-Concert tape. Used it as an introduction with Brian May's screaming guitar over the top. If you listen to Beautiful you can hear the audience in the sample.

Wow, Dre sampled this vocal melody and built a predominantly minor-instrumentation around it for the Eminem track. He completely rebuilt the accompaniment to this vocal melody - which is very much a "requires music theory" type of thing to do. I know he can drop beats like no other, but this is not a talent I thought Dre would have. I bet it wasn't Dre - bet it was his studio guitarist that figured out the progression based on the vocal melody. No one else wondering how this happened?
