Is it just me, or is the Starfighter like the American MiG-21 Fishbed? Both very small, short-ranged, simple interceptors (in conception). Only the MiG was a better plane all around. Better flying at least.
Germans did put a lot of them into the ground according to the research text I read. its my favorite A/C of all times I also grew up watching them fly overhead from my house as a boy in the early 70's. The Air National Guard in PR had the B and C models returning from Viet Nam. J79's Rock!!!
Not true, the bribes are more in the direction of Germany (Franz J. Strauss)and Holland (Prince Bernhard) in the '60's. After the F104 was retired in these countrys the Dutch, for example, sold them to Greece and Turkey.

va' che non ha tutti i torti. è vero che il 104 è una bella macchina (e che l'ASA funzionava pure bene), ma con quelle alette con l'angolo d'ingresso quasi uguale all'angolo di uscita, era praticamente impossibile ripigliarlo se andava in vite piatta. ricordati di quello che l'ha perso sopra Casalecchio, non ha potuto fare altro che lasciarlo andare contro la scuola. Per fortuna è uscita roba migliore e più facile da portare.
Era un MB 326 quello caduto su casalecchio, per colpa di una piantata motore. Il pilota ha fatto un miracolo nel dirigerlo lontano ma per sfortuna questo ha cambiato direzione una volta eiettato. Quanto a tutto il resto che ho letto qua sul 104...lasciamo perdere, si capisce che gli aerei non sapete neppure da che parte guardarli :-)

My husband flew the CF-104 for many years in Cold Lake (417), Canada and Baden (439), Germany, and flew the German 104 at the FW school at Luke, Phoenix, AZ for 4 years. He also wrote a book on the CF-104 when it was retired from service in Canada. My husband is away right now but when he returns I'll show him your video... I know he will also find it very moving. Un mezzo spettacolare quanto pericoloso.

the most uniqeu thing off the F-104 star fighters is that the ejection seet goes down in place off other planes where they go up :)
