Altohough not oringnally if I remeber correct , but it is common knowledge that Mike the drummer was in the TV series Tomorrow People . However unless I am mistaken , is what derived from that verity show called "You Must Be Joking" ? I know Mike was in it . Used to chuck custard pies at each other at the end of it . Pouline Querk [sorry don't know how you spell it] used to be in that show with them .
Me and my mate waited 2 hours outside the YTV studios in Leeds to get Flintlocks autograph and we did get the autographs plus had a great 5 mins with them,,oh the joy of teenage memories x
I knew these guys personally way back in the 70s loved them then still think they were amazing , their musics on my ipod even today loved John he had lovely parents as well, got a photo album full of pics taken with them, shame they didnt get on way back then I still consider them the first boy band ever, thanks for happy memories guys xxxxx
I was in the Fan Club and was in love with Derek Pascoe!!! (i was young then!) I saw them at my first ever concert! Id love to see them now, and see how they have changed. Brilliant songs, and very good. Still love Silbury Hill. Oh what memories XX
The sax player, Derek Pascoe, now lectures for the Jazz course at the Elder Conservatory at Adelaide, South Australia. He is a pretty amazing sax player now, if he hadn't told us about this I would have assumed that was always the case.
Flintlock weren't a manufactured boy band. I should know, I went to school with them. I had a crush on Mike Holoway along with most girls in my class.
I like this band so I don't know what to say about the last comment. I mean, at least they're playing instruments. The boy bands today just prance around like pansies, and try to sound like every other generic band on VH1 and MTV with a record deal.
I remember them on TV as a kid as wanted a drum kit just like Flintlock's drummer. My Dad bought a single snare drum from Wing Music in Bromley and by the time I was 17 it as big his kit!
My friend Lorna introduced me to this lot at age 12: she was in love with Mike! This is my first time hearing "Dawn" - Lorna had "Hot From The Lock" and it was a pretty solid pop album. I would love to hear it again - is it only available on vinyl? Lot of talent for such young guys :)
I was a massive fan back in the day even went to see flintlock in concert. I use to watch their show which if I remember had a very young Pauline Quirk on regularly. John Summerton was my fav.. Please tell him.
Mike, Derek, John, Jamie and Bill. I still have the autographed picture they sent me for Christmas in, probably, 1975! I remember how excited we were when this song cracked the top 30!
Mike Holloway (drummer) has had a successful stage career and some TV appearances. Saw him in 'Joseph and his amazing technicolour dreamcoat' many years ago, knocked spots off anyone else who played the lead in this.
John is still playing in essex,in a band called where beagles dare, with my old drummer and bassist, check the lodge at rettendon, castlemaine basildon, and sutton arms in southend on sea !!!
i remember them they played at portsoy ne scotland i was13 at the time fancy coming back boys we have a tattie shed dance now 1000+ people love to have you back
they played in portsoy ne scotland hey were big at the time i must have 13 at the time still remember that night if they want to come back there more than welcome but we now have a tattie shed dance now
Tehy always sounded a bit like Bay City Rollers to me,I used to lauugh at them when they were on telly after school.I liked Mike H in Tomorrow People though and he had some lovely drumkits!.the singer reminds me of the wally from Herman's Hermits!
he's changed a lot now - I've seen posters of him as grown man and think I'll stick to John Reznick (not sure how you spell his name) of goo goo dolls lol! He's gorgeous!
OMGOSH this is the first time I've ever heard them!!!!! I use to, and still do watch Mike in The Tomorrow People! Wow they are / were really aweosme, thank you for posting this.
I think Stardust will be fantastic, it has some great cast members. Mike Holoway [Flintlock, Tomorrow People], Mike Newman Jnr, Rachael Holoway and Maureen Nolan.
I was a huge fan of Mike Holoway when i was a kid. ive met him a couple of times after shows like joseph but finally this week my dreams came true! I had a drink with him on Monday!!! He's still gorgeous and a lovely guy!
Hello again, Mike Holoway is about to start a tour with a new show called "Stardust" so if you would like to see it go to the Mike Fisher Associates web page and click on current shows to get tour dates and details!!
Just got back from The Crown in Romford where Flintlock just made a special appareance =D Honest. Played three songs including "Dawn". My they look different.
This brought back so many memories. The only LPs I have kept from my teeny bopper days are my Flintlock albums! I remember every Sunday trekking with my girlfriends to hang outside the boys' houses! I still have all my photos. The good old days :)
WOW this is so fantastic to see at long last . The only footage i have on Flintlock is from the Tomorrow People . Now my kids can see why i was so mad on Flintlock .. they were one of the best days of my life ! Sad there will nto be no comeback , well with Derek living in Australia .. Would love to see footage of them siging Carry me and Sea of Flames .

As good as the likes of McFly..............at least Flintlock didn't rely on charity singles to boost their sales figures.

Ironically Alan Merrill (bass) and Paul Varley (drums) of the Arrows had played on the actual recording.
The producer had hired them to play on the tracks.
Listen closely from around 2m 4 sec. You can hear Mike Holloways live drumming in the background - all out of time !

Flintlock were real pioneers - the first of the really horrible, manufactured boy bands.
It's interesting to see that Mike Holoway uses the traditional grip on his sticks, and yes, I am talking about his drumming!

Wasn't that the Monkees?

Micky Dolenz would probably agree with you. He hates The Monkees, and he was in the band.

Flintlock were a great pop group. Most pop groups have a short life span because they
don't get paid enough by the thieving labels
to keep going.
