Agree with u.... I didnt know anything much about laptop.. Until i brought a laptop and i explore everything in it. Found out that they want the key... Thats where i realise it was using pirated. The shop offered me refund but i didnt cause im just using for web browsing. So not a big deal. Besides, if im gonna get a genuine 1, i go for windows 8.

@Kole208 its the rate atwhich the RAM comes and goes to and from your cpu, so it has to work less dealing with RAM and more with your harddrive and mathimatics if needed, and what ever else it does.

The real problem is that you activated your copy & thought it was legit for 3 mos, past the time to file claims.

Once you type in your license, on your system page MS should show exactly what license you have (retail, OEM, MSDN, trial, etc) so their are no problems in the future. That would prevent this type of fraud as you would immediately know you did or did not get what you purchased. There *are* legit copies on ebay (I've sold an extra before), but how can a buyer know?

If you still have this copy of windows 7 and you want to activate that windows there is a crack called windows loader (search it up on youtube or google) and just download it and press install when you download it and it activates windows for free. So you didn't really have to buy or order another copy of windows7.

Developer keys don't expire (they are no different than retail keys), so you requesting that they say "Expires in blah blah blah" won't work. The key was flagged as counterfeit because it was registered too many times, not because it expired.

Lesson learned on your part. It isn't the fault of a software company that you purchased software through an individual. Ebay should protect you from counterfeits so you can get a charge back via PayPal. Sucks you got scammed, but not Microsoft's fault.

You have to understand if Microsoft made it so that it said "Developers copy, expires in", first of all the Reverse Engineerers who make cracked copies of Windows would easily find a way to jump the OPCODES that are displaying the message. The code that actually displays the message "Expires in" can easily be manipulated, Microsoft is fighting an uphill battle.

The word "counterfeit" when referring to Windows software is a misnomer. The packaging can be counterfeit but the software is very unlikely to be.

Also anyone can check their Windows 7 license details by using Software Licensing Management Tool, which is accessed through command prompt by typing: slmgr.vbs -dlv

There is also a nifty little program you can download called Windows 7 Product Key Checker, which provides the license details of your specific activation key.

Microsoft are lazy to regards to there products and over priced with regards to there software, if they lowered there prices it would cut piracy down, but they are greedy and normal honest people suffer because of it. This has just happened to me and have made a video to highlight the issue and luckily for me I have just bought it and spotted it straight away it was fake, didn't even have to open it to know. Ebay seller again and have reported him and now fighting the crook seller.

There are some things you just don't buy on ebay. For a high value software licence like this you really need to go to an authorised dealer.

Learn from the hacker himself:

1- Its easy to become a member of MSDN

2- With an MSDN account you get 10 serial keys for each software product they have.( 10 keys for windows 7, 10 keys for Office, etc...( with only one account )

3- I know people who sell these keys on Ebay, which is wrong. ( don't buy from ebay, Amazon, and even Craigslist.

4- Most of this shit comes from China, so the blame should be on Customs.

@flyphoenix22 I'm not mad at Microsoft per se. I just think that they could make it simpler for their customers to identify a pirated copy through their activation system. As I described in the video, they could let the user know if their copy was going to expire and if it was a developer's license. I would have known right away that it wasn't legitimate. I could have notified eBay & Microsoft and the distributor of this software could have been caught.

you mention that developers licence keys expire, this is not true

its only the MSDN or Technet account that will expire, the keys that they provide Do Not expire and are pretty much the same as retail keys

so once your account expires the keys used will carry on going for as long as you like, so next time instead of buying Windows and office, buy a technet licence instead and get all windows editions, all office editions and loads more for the same price as 1 copy of windows, Keys Dont Expire

I don't know about you, but when I'm buying things for 1/3 the retail cost I always assume I just found the greatest deal ever. Clearly the overhead of a best buy forces them to increase the cost by 200+%. I recently bought a Bentley for $8000 and found out it had no engine, I was shocked and couldn't believe there was something wrong?
