@SLBPhantom With so many people using public transit in Japan, those machines have to be constantly serviced. Those machines don't print money or give change or print blank tickets out of nowhere either; they need to be constantly re-stocked. Hence the need for guys to be working behind the machines. It's better than an "out of service" or "no more change/exact fare only" sign on the ticket machine, right?
ive also seen this is in Japan, at an underground station,it was not me,but another passenger did not get his ticket,it was so funny to me,because it looked like the man was inside the ticket machine,in fact he attends to a row of machines, and it is a very good idea, rather than waiting for the man to come.but for a european visitor,i didnt expect it,and it was so funny.
at least you don't have to use a speaker and talk to someone yelling at it because they cannot hear you. Then you have to wait 10-15 minutes for them to walk over -___- Japan has convenience when it comes to customer satisfaction. A++++
@Velchat3 Behaviorally, the people who inhabit ghettos are nowhere near the level of civility that is displayed by those who live outside ghettos.
Hitting a person who surprises you may be a "reflex", but evidently, the Japanese are able to control their impulses.
Unless you think I'm referring to a particular ethnicity or race (which I'm not), the fact that the first ghettos housed Jews in Europe is irrelevant, because in its contemporary use, ghetto simply refers to a rundown urban area.
@Dzongka So I take it you have lived in the ghetto before? The reason the Japanese are able to control their reflexes in this case is because they are used to this type of service, where as a person from the States may not be. Ever heard of fight or flight? Now about the term ghetto. We both know what race comes to mind when a person hears the word "ghetto". That, coupled with the words 'contemporary' use, and the referring to the people as "chimps" paints you in a really racist light.
@Dzongka Also, my reference to the ghettos in Europe isn't as irrelevant as you think. They were over-crowded and run down as well, which is where we derived the contemporary meaning.
No doubt..... Japanese is on top of others... Nobody, elsewhere in this very planet that could match their level of customer service, and satisfaction.... two thumbs... no four thumbs for you folks.....
That's ridiculously awesome! :D

HuskerSeaofRed 5 months ago
@HuskerSeaofRed That's because the people who inhabit ghettos are uncivilized chimps.
Dzongka 5 months ago
@Dzongka ... You do realize that everyone's DNA is about one percent of from being identical to primates, right?
And when did hitting a person that surprised you become uncivilized? Its called a reflex and we all have them.
Also do you realize that the first ghettos housed the Jews during the time of the Holocaust? Punching holes in ignorance is fun, no?
