Saying the Disco 4 is better than a Range Rover is a tricky one. Personally, I chose the new Disco 4. I had an early Disco 4 and it was utterly awesome on and off road. Sadly I sold it but am happy to say I've just bought the new Disco 4, which is even better. The upgraded engine and gearbox make a real difference.
The difference between a Disco 3 and a Range Rover is huge. Impressive though it is, the interior on the Disco was totally outclassed by the Rangey. Not to mention the 2.7l

That aside I own one & it is a monster vehicle, beats any other 4wd on the road in all aspects, other than fuel economy perhaps but then if you buy a 3 ton car you can't expect to get Ford Fiesta MPG & it's a small price to pay for the safety, comfort & versatility the LR DIII gives you.
I owned the V8 4.4 petrol version of this for 2 years (2007 model) I can say this vehicle is great. The only bad thing being the petrol consumption. I had to do a LPG conversion in the end. If you are looking to buy this i thorougly recommend the HSE diesel spec.

If you really want a 4x4 that can give you more excitement
than you can handle that dos'nt come with all the the "useless" gadgetry. Thats cool to look at and offers you 100% 4x4 satisfaction then get the Defender. As we can see, the proof is in the pudding. Grandadday Defender. As for green laning. There are many Pay & Play parks dotted around the country, £25 should get you a days pleasure at a convenient site.

My dad bought it few months ago and we love it! Comfortable on the roads fun to drive off road and its not that bad to look at.

I would have LOVED to have seen him drive like this on Salisbury plains and then laughed my ass off when the cameras caught the rangers confiscating the demo car for being driven like that. I wonder how that call to Land Rover would have gone.

Should be on a pay and play site driving like that not a byway, thanks for making it harder for us proper 4x4 drivers to use these lanes, by driving like a fool and putting it on TV you give them more ammo to close the lanes, most of us don't drive like this on byways because it's driving like this that gets them closed you nonce.
