Prolonged shooting with any suppressed weapon that puts out 100db or more, basically all guns, will perm damage your hearing. Other shooters that day were shooting non-suppressed as well.

.45ACP rounds are already subsonic as long as they don't reach velocities of 1,125 ft/s. A 165 gr (10.7 g) Federal Premium Low Recoil JHP round is a popular high velocity round in 45 caliber and only reaches 1,060 ft/s.

There is such a thing. Most standard .45 loads ARE subsonic as far as the velocity of the bullet is concerned (meaning it doesn't break the sound barrier). That is why you'll see more .45s with a silencer for practical use (like the Mk23) as opposed to a 9mm, .40 cal, or .357 Magnum (which do break the sound barrier). Although without a suppressor, a .45 is loud as hell due to the explosion going on in the chamber.
