the pilot is flying a beautiful film here, but the sailplane is being flown "flatfooted" through the 'batics. watch the turn coordinator as well as the string on the canopy when he is into the inverted. he clearly is forgetting the rudder input.
you can tell all that from looking at the string. i see a man here soaring. i see eveyone else including myself typing stuff no one should care about. did you ever think is more pleasurable to fly this way?
expereance the thill fist. flatfoot = one who hasnt left the ground.
A 45 degree turn reversal takes less than 4 seconds in a modern racing glider. That includes stop and start time.
The K21 has a roll rate of about one 360 degree roll in 12 seconds. I think it's about 9 for the Puchacz, unless you flick it, in which case it's about 3. Full aerobatic gliders like the Fox can manage a 360 roll in about 4 seconds, unless you flick them in which case it's 2 seconds. K21s can't be flicked.
They're good gliders, just slow. That said, Grobs are slower.
oh yeah fgair enough... well 90deg a sec could be worse i guess haha my plane does about that. i flew a pc-9 (the aircraft the t-6ii is based on, look it up) and that rolled at something like 180deg a sec but you cant flick that.. its a fast plane we were flying downwind at 270kts which was very fun =)
A flick-roll, also known as a snap-roll, is a close cousin of the spin. An asymmetric stall in level flight results in a roll about the longitudinal axis that is very fast. Most gliders cannot take the strain. Don't try it without a) reading the maunal to ensure that the glider is cleared for it and b) you've been taught how by someone who can do it. Otherwise you'll probably rip the tail off.
our club too needs a ASK 21, we just have a super-Blanik L-23 and it is forbidden, to make aerobatic gliding with all our club-planes. And a question, Whats, the name of the Song?
Great video. Love the Enya tune as well and I thought it really fit the visuals. However, if I were in the backseat, I'd be really pissed at the pilot for going upside down all the time. I would have lost my lunch. Haha
pretty lazy in the roll axis huh?

Aileron rolls are slow in K21s; other gliders actually have effective ailerons ;o)

I am endorsed in 7 different gliders, from the K-13 to the Jantar CS, I have never heard of flicking???? Wot is "to flick a gliders roll?"

couldn't a danish guy be in norway? i mean, it's not like they're more than a few miles away.

Very nice hammerhead! I just learned basic aerobatics (in an ASK-21 as well) this spring, and I know just how hard those are to get right :).

i think the guy did pretty good. whoever actually made the video i mean.
considering what you can do with the DG303 or what he had compared to a full acro ship like the MDM-1 Fox for example.
