Well, I enjoy ham radio. Generally I solve the world's problems on 80 meters and find myself gabbing way to late at night. For me it is fun and enjoyable, especially when it is 35 below zero outside with a good wind. I sit back and chew the fat with Ham friends all over the country. If someone wishes to gab on a cell phone, then that is their fun, but I like a good round table with everybody jumping in. Thank you for posting this video, I got a 100 on the quiz N1XQJ

this is an antenna. you may wonder how it stays high? it uses a pipe, a really good pipe. it always has the munchies so we feed it wires.

I do have to say, however, that you might be choosing a communicative idiom--or perhaps you are unable to vary this idiom--that excludes ANY technical terms. Technical terms serve an important function to describe technical concepts.

These "Ham Radio" guys are strange antiquated odd balls. In our HOA meeting last month we voted to ban any antennas used by these guys, basically we don't even want them in, they claim there are part of emergency communications, we thoroughly checked this out and public service people have no use for them these days (yes maybe 30-40 years ago) most agencies didn't even know what "Ham Radio" is. Hams have historically created nothing but trouble for HOA because of their strange personalities.

Simply get the FCC rules for Amateur Radio and see Section 97.15 (B) : "State and Local regulation of a station antenna structure must NOT preclude Amateur Radio communications. Rather, it must reasonably accomodate such communications and must constitute the minimum practicable regulation to accomplish the State or Local authorities legitimate purpose." So, please do not be ignorant of the rights of the Amateur Radio Service.

I am new to this and trying to learn...........but from antenna to fuses? He lost me at 1:20. I guess I am already suppose to know what a transceiver is when I walk into class on the first day. This is a "guy wire"......and these are "fuses". Beautifully done.

I have experience in electronics, kits, I had constructed an amateur device when I was young, of course these things had to do with physics (electromagnetism). I tried to watch some videos from this guy, he maybe good in his personal knowledge but as you say in order to make a course you have to do methodically and in steps. In the first video I expected him to introduce us the units one by one. But he tries to explaine each unit's parts instead.

According to my opinion I expected the course as a series of videos 1,2,3 etc. so we, the students could follow. Meanwhile what I want to say is that Kurt Glasser (is this his name?) just throws you in the deep blue sea and say to you "swim". It's like starting a computer course and the teacher shows you the serial port, the parallel port, the USB port. The first lesson has to be like "data in - processing - data out, the scope of computing, etc" I mean the basics and simple means so the student
