Definitely not bad. Fast tourer vs a track bike; 7000rpm redline vs a 11750rpm redline that weighs over 200lbs less and has a more direct-torque chain drive (as opposed to shaft drive). What can you do? You’re never going to ever outrun the R1, busa, big Ninjas & CBRs (and the small ones will definitely hand you your ass in the shorts). Still, you can put 180 miles straight on an FJR and still have your wrists & back in good enough shape to do yardwork (or bikework).
I really like the Motty. Installation was a bit scary, but it was worth it to me.
It's a bit of a tougher decision now that Dynojet has their PCV + AutoTune, which is very similar (Motty also includes a data logger and higher resolution maps). The other main difference is that the PCV is plug-n-play (but only supported on 2009+ bikes), while the Motty requires custom splicing/soldering (but can be installed on almost any bike).
Thanks for your help. I'm currently trying to purchase male/female injector connectors so I can make up a plug and play harness as I don't want to leave tell tale signs that could void my warranty. I think Motty's the best available at the moment...I considered Rapid Bike RB3 but heard they're unreliable. Thanks.
According to my experience, an R1 in capable hand will beat FJR1300 in every possible speed race. Reason is R1 has a much better power to weight ratio, superior high end torque. FJR is an EXCELLENT bike for long distance touring. Its comfortable and also very powerful but R1 a purpose built racing machine. As I said, it depends on the rider. Given both riders are equally capable; R1 will win a ¼ mile race hands down; every time.
I guess I should qualify my statement of them being "close enough in 1/4 mile performance" with "in average hands". Equally capable average riders, such as myself and this R1 rider, are equally capable of making small mistakes. These 2 bikes are close enough in performance that when he makes a mistake and I don't, I can win the race. Also keep in mind that this is an older R1 and my FJR has been modified a bit. The FJR is actually based on a lot of design/technology of early 2000's R1.
But I just did compare them :) They are close enough in 1/4 mile performance that I won 2 of the 4 races against him due to small rider errors on his part (reaction time, shifting to 2nd a split second too late). They'd be even closer if I didn't slip my clutch so much on the launch (still a bit of fear about launching hard).
Fjr got full fuel tank anyway

What do you think of the Motty AFR? I'm thinking of getting one for my K1200S.
