In 1994, a white Jindo, 5 yrs old, was sold to far away Taejeon city from Jindo Island. After 7 months later, the dog returned to the original owner, an old grandma. The distance of its travel was 320 km by car. And the dog died in Feb. 2000. This dog was not trained. All she was given was just affection.

Jindo is very smart and give loyalty to you and your families. There are so many accident bitten to death by dog in Korea. But i've never heard Jindo was such a dog over 40 years.

It is true that Jindo's well known for being loyal, but it's not true they are aggresive. Yes, they are hunting dogs, but so as hounds and terriers. As other kinds of dogs, it's all depend on how you raise and train them. my friend has three jindo dogs, and they are all lovely and social

Some information -- Jindos are probably the most loyal dogs out there, but i don't reccommend this breed for families. They will only have one master their own lives and are very aggressive.

They are hutning dogs after all.

I don't reccommend this breed if you cannot provide the activities this breed needs. They have a lot of stamina and if you live in an area with small, wilf animals, they will hunt those animals down.

My friend has a jindo and he brings her dead animals everyday xD

Jindo Dogs are pure bred dogs from Jindo South Korea.

They have been known skilled hunters.

However they have been killed by the Japanese during WWII

because of their nature.

THey will serve only ONE, I repeat ONE Master.

@kim4738 A well-trained and well-socialized Jindo will NOT be aggressive. Aggressive Jindos are those dogs that have been chained outside their entire life, recieved no training, are not included as family. No matter how social and nice the JIndo is to other people and animals, they will ALWAYS know family. In the US, hundreds of Jindos have been adopted to new families and have adapted beautifully. But I know some would definately go running to their first master if they had the chance.

jindo can export after 20days from the birth.

In Korean law we can not sale adult dogs inside of Jindo island only.

because they have to keep innocent blood line as a national treasure.

But all puppies in and out of jindo and adults outside of jindo island can export...sale...trade...from korea to the world.

Jindo dogs cannot export since they r protected by Korean law.. Also they cannot even go out from jindo which is the name of place in korea. Maybe they r hybrid..

Haha, the first time I've seen a family of Jindo pups with both parents. Usually the sire is separated because most Jindo sires are known to play rough with their pups and they sometimes tend to bark loudly at them in order to impose their dominance in the pack

My son got a beautiful Korean Jindo from a shelter and didn't even know at first that's what the dog is. We LOVE him, he's the best dog ever. Very smart, affectionate and funny. Great dog, but they must be trained firmly, but with love.

@spartacusrockes Jindos are the biggest softies with family but be careful with non-family animals and humans. They are very protective. You should socialize them with other people and animals as much as possible and never tie them up or keep them in isolated areas. They will become aggressive and hyper territorial. Also keep cats away from them.

@melonbarmonster Well said! :) Just to add on: Which is why they should always be included as a family member, not just "the dog." A properly socialized Jindo will be perfectly well-mannered around people, other dogs and animals (cats, etc.). Jindos are protective but NOT aggressive; they know when they need to be nice or mean. An aggressive Jindo will only further give the breed its bad reputation. And no matter how much socialized and "friendly" they are, Jindos will ALWAYS recognize family.

They're really smart, working dogs, so you HAVE to give them training. We walk ours with a backpack--he loves having a job. He also likes learning things--not just tricks. Please don't get a smart dog if you're going to be gone a lot or work a lot--it's not fair to them.

aww cute. my friend has a purebred jindo puppy, his mom's corporate boss got one as a corporation gift but couldn't take care of it so gave it to them, shipped straight from korea.

they had to get it as puppies because it's supposed to stay loyal to the original owners or something.

You have to give them a lot of time and training. They are working dogs, so they want a job to do. Walk them with a backpack with water bottles in it or do agility training every day. Emotionally and mentally, they need a challange. If you're not home a lot, then it's not fair to them. Get a less smart, more docile cute dog--these need someone who will seriously commit to them.

I own the star of this video. The pup that kisses the camera - that's my dog Jo-zee. Got her just after the video was made in October 2007. I also have her second gen sister Gina. Both are wonderful dogs and I plan on mating them both when they are old enough. At the moment, Jo-zee is 2 yrs and Gina just made 1 yr.
