I know the Android is powerful, but you'd think that for someone who can move faster than the speed of light and sound, he could have taken the slight detour in MOVING AROUND Oa instead of out-right moving it into another dimension.

Kyle was the GL at the time... but Hal Jordan was originally the first Green Lantern from Earth... but now they've retconned everything, so that there were GL's from Earth before Hal got the ring.

The movie that came out on the 17th re-establishes that Hal was the first to join the corp. depending on how you read into it, it even could be interpreted that he was the first earthing to be in possession of a ring thus negating Alan Scott. side note: the whole Emerald Knight thing is bogus in my opinion plus he is a Daxamite anyway so not human.

Well the discussion was about the comics compared to the DCAU, especially the debate as to why the Green Lantern in the Superman: TAS episode "In Brightest Day" was Kyle Rayner instead of Hal Jordan.
Alan Scott's origin will is still up for debate due to the Guardians removing the weakness to the color yellow in Yalan Gur's ring... which they couldn't have done because Parallax... plus the ring was not technically GLC issue as it was altered by Yalan Gur and the starheart.

Jong Li is widely regarded as the first human Green Lantern, though some disagree, even so there is also Waverly Sayer, a Green Lantern during the 1800's who was the 2nd predecessor to Abin Sur.

@jimms the central power battery seems to be where they need to go to charge up when their person lanterns, which are the batteries for their rings (themselves capable of hold a "charge"). So no, they'd keep functioning until they ran out of juice. Other wise it would be like saying you couldn't use your charged ipod or something because of a power outage.

only kyle rayner's ring was truly independent and could hold its own charge. corps rings only held enough charge for emergency shields
when hal jordan took ion and parallax out of the central battery, rings stopped functioning immediately. the corps back then arguably did not 'charge' their rings per se, they merely had to reaffirm their allegiance once every 24 hours to renew ring usage period
