  • 6 people did not like the video? whats wrong with them? no ears?

  • if you could make an album, that would be fantastic

  • It's on my list :-) Thanks!

  • you have major talent, cheers mate

  • Superb! the best breakbeat style drumming I have ever seen!

  • 4:09

    : OOO

    Ydna the best!

  • Sounds like scratching

  • Im getting mics for christmas hopefully, what drum program would u recommend Ydna?

  • I'm using Logic Audio but the learning curve is pretty steep. Garageband would be easier to learn, or some other more basic recording software, even a demo version that lets you record at least 6 or 8 tracks at once would be fine.

  • nice beats

  • Fantastic! I love all your videos. You have given me so many cool things to try!

  • Thanks, that's nice to hear :-)

  • Hey man, that's a great percussive instrument you've made there, it must feel great to know you've produced that sound all by yourself!

Is there any chance you could tell me what you're using for the kick and your main snare (not the trash one)? It sounds like a triggered electronic kick, but I love your snare sound and I'm wondering what snare you've got.

  • Hey, thanks :-) The main snare is a 14" Brady and the aux snare (not the trash one) is a 10" Mapex Black Panther. I don't trigger at all, what you hear is the natural bass drum sound with some eq and a little bit of distortion to make it sound a bit "electronic". I use noise gate, compressor and eq plus sometimes distortion on the kick and eq, exciter and a little bit of reverb on my snare drums.

    Take care

  • Die Snare is der Hammer!

  • Inspirational! totally creative ,great drumming, will definetly be checking out your other vids. thankyou.

  • THIS IS ONE OF THEEE MOST AWSOME VIDEOS IVE EVER SEEN ON YOUTUBE!!

  • Woowie, I surely like this comment, hahaha. Thanks mate, I appreciate it :-)

  • @Jungleritter hahaha thanx xD sounds coooool :)

  • A real inspiration for drummers! It's amazing what different things including regular household items can do for drumming. My cooking pans sound pretty cool!

  • How did you add/mount the metal ring? and where did you get it? luv the way it sounds, i want to make it.

  • The ring is mounted with some kind of bungee cord since it has to sit fairly loose on the snare to produce this sound. I drilled four holes into the ring to attach the cord from underneath. The ring is a chimney pipe cover from the hardware store, happens to have the perfect size :-)

    Cheers

  • I love DIY. You really made something awesome with that piece of work!

  • Thanks mate, I really appreciate it :-)

  • Not a good name for a good drum or a good PLAYA!!!!

  • Man... I now have another favorite drummer...you, and Mike Clark. Hats off to you.

  • That's nice, thanks!! I haven't heard of Mike Clark, gonna check him out right away :-)

  • @Jungleritter Wow... I can't believe you responded to me.... I feel like I met a celebrity...HA!

But hey man.... check out watch?v=m0c38Wtdvz0

It's a tune called "Actual Proof" On Herbie Hancock's album "Thrust"

Also if you can... check out watch?v=AFcpBB4Yy_M

It's a video with Mike Clark playing short riffs with Paul Jackson. (The bass player in Herbie Hancock's band) It's freakin awesome... I think they influenced Drum & Bass without even realizing.

  • Yeah, sweet videos :-)

    All the best

    Ydna

  • Oh, ok, I do know him, great drummer, nice touch on the drums!

  • One of the best drummers on YouTube.

  • Yooouuu rooock! <3

I want the same snare !!! ='( haha!

  • Thanks mate :-)

  • I love the videos man, helped me pick up quite a few little tricks and techniques. Keep up the badassery.

  • Beautiful. Well done, sir.

  • Very nice! Very nice indeed.Break the rules and add a trigger and layer sounds with it.Not that you have too,but just an idea.Peace

  • whats the name of the snare thats under the high hats? i love the sound. and where did you get it from and for how much?

  • That's a 10" Mapex Black Panther. Bought it about 6 years ago on eBay for 300 Can Dollars. That's really a great sounding aux snare.

  • Hey your great man, keep those DnB beat vidz coming.

  • This man is a live breakbeat technician! Big thumbs up for your style, talent and sheer inventiveness.

  • Thanks a lot for that big compliment my friend :-)

    Cheers

    Ydna Murd

  • U are a good drummer

  • Thanks for the compliment :-)

  • Geiles Teil, erinnert vom Design an eine KORG Wavedrum

  • Which is the model of the snare that you have in the left side of the hit-hat..the highest snare...

  • That's a 10" Mapex Black Panther/ wood shell...

  • Man, you're the fucking best...mis respetos desde Colombia !!

  • Hahaha, thanx mate, I really appreciate it :-)

    Take care

  • nice electric sound

  • you're my favorite youtube drummer!!

  • That's pretty cool, thanks!!

My German ain't that good, but you get the idea, you even keep a guitarist interested in watching the whole drumming video. Cheers

  • You're german sounds great actually! Greetz to Serbia from Canada :-)

    Ydna

  • welche hihat hast du eig genau ?

  • Das ist eine 13" Zildijan K

  • whats your side snare(not the trash snare just the normal side snare) sound awesome... the trash as a nice sound too

  • This side snare is a 10" Mapex Black Panther.

    Cheers

    Ydna Murd

  • @Jungleritter one last question: what material is it made of or do you even know the exact name of it(cause there are lots of black panthers as you probably know) cause i'm really considering buying one of those

  • It's a wood snare but I don't know what kind of wood, I also don't know if it does have a special name. I bought it on ebay maybe 5 years ago because I tested it before a few times and fell in love with the snare but never really tried to find out WHY it sounds so good, hahaha.

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • repetitive.

  • Very innovative!

  • this is soooo good

learn full respect a lktroo head

  • Dude, ever since I saw my first video of yours the other day you have now became my favorite chanel. You should try and market a snare like this to some companies mabey take off 1/3 the metal plate and add in a small jam block kind of like the yamaha one. It would be the best all purpose snare ever! Oh, and your chops are sweet I would love to hear you do some stuff with Phil Selway and Thom York on the next radiohead albulm.

  • Hey, thanks for the kind words! Great idea with the snare drum, I would love to work together with a company to make something like that work. I pitched it to Sonor a while ago but there seems to be no interest. I like the idea with the jam block/would addition, very cool...

You know what, I would love to hear my drumming on a Radiohead album as well, hahaha.

    Cheers from Canada

    Ydna

  • Your are a genius man!!!! Wooow:::.

  • Well, I'm certainly not a genius but it's nice to hear you liked the vid and the snare :-)

    Cheers

    Ydna Murd

  • ey der Scratch soud is ja geil!

  • ohh God! what a crazy sound xnare!! i want onnnneeee.....!!!!! :D

  • wo hast du den metall reifen her?

    Viele Gruesse

    Ydna

  • Great tecnoman!!

  • Absolutely magnificent.

  • wow!!!

  • was bervorugst du so für felle? :D weil ich mir jez eins kaufen will

  • @Jungleritter ambassador? will ich mir kaufen

  • Klar doch, sind sehr gute Felle, da machst du nichts verkehrt!

  • @oliv3r97 okey ;D

  • SICK!!!!

  • i looooove the sound of your bass drum!

and of course the trash snare!

    love it mate

  • That's great to hear!

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • great tones but you slow waaaaaaaay down.....time yourself from the start to the finish....

  • Very great, professional drumming!

  • Thanks a lot, I really appreciate your comment :-)

  • @generalbeat777 your right! Jungleritter: why not working with populair jungle and dnb producers? you produce alot of perfect dnb drum breaks!

  • At 0:25 it's really amazing! Jungle massive!

  • hopfully some drum companies catch on to this brilliant idea. You should pitch this idea to some companies and maybe you'd be in for some royalties or somethin' lmao.

  • Dude the scratch sounds were awesome man :)

  • Subscribed! :D

  • totally original idea using the stick to do scratches! fantastic!

  • Wow super gespielt!

  • haha How did you get your bass drum to sound like that?

  • I used an equalizer :-)

  • I love that snare!

  • Das bastel ich nach

  • Coole Idee :--))

  • Fantastic!

Your channel is one of my favs about drumming since I discovered it!

  • That´s really nice to hear, thanks a lot :-))

    Ydna

  • Yo, vielen Dank :-) Du hast Recht, mein 2nd snare drum video erklaert eigentlich fast alles was ich in diesem Video hier benutze. Viele Gruesse

    Ydna

  • sounds a bit like apache imo:) very nice mate!:D

  • that kick is sexyyy, precision DnB haha

  • might be out of line, but i'd love to hear this guy play around with Bloc Party stuff off of the Intimacy album. would just be a sick mix.

  • Damn that sounds good!!

  • masterful!

  • This is amazing, great work.

  • 2:05 is so bad ass. sounds like you have a turntable.

dude, you are a god of drums.

    nice job bro.

  • I'm sorry, but every single time I watch one of these videos I can't help be disappointed because of everything Jojo Mayer has ever done. This guy is so sloppy in comparison.

  • this is ridiculous.....

    ...ridiculously awesome! :-D

  • awesome

  • love your work man SAVAGE

  • your so fucking good

  • Very cool. Kick n snare. Classic bits.

  • Excellent !

Today, i bought your drums method, hi hat and breakbeat !

Can't wait to receive it !

    Antoine

  • what model are the two other snares you have in this vid?

  • 14" Brady and a 10" Mapex Black Panther

  • @Jungleritter That black panther of yours sounds absolutely BEAUTIFUL in this video. You willing to release any details on how you you got that sound?

  • Yeah, it´s a really nice drum: The secret is: There´s no secret :-) I got a regular Remo Ambassador (is that spelled right? not sure now :-) on top and it´s just tuned pretty high. The snare sounds great right out of the box, that´s it.

  • @Jungleritter right right. I just want to know what was done in post. compression/eq and the like. BTW that little sonor is sounding sweet after the mods you did.

  • wow ¡

    I love that sound

    excellent combination

    metal ring and strings

    Jungleritter teacher

    (is bass drum trigger?)

  • Thanx mate!! The bass drum sound is a combination of 3 compressors, 2 distortion efx and a tekknoish sounding bass drum sample to beef it up. The result of tweaking the track about half an hour, lots of fun :-) So it´s not triggered but not pure either...

  • @Jungleritter

very good thanks for the reply

    help me for this function

    you're good brother

    You're all a true artist

    congrats

  • wow man, awesomee didn't know about that "electric snare", its incredible, graatz, just another awesome vid man, congratulations

  • 2:05 playing to be the dj also lol! this drum of yours is very very interesting for me, and the best part is that you have developed a technique for it! keep it up!

  • This is so... AWESOME!!!!

  • I'm going to heat my hands on my burning drums.

  • Very cool! Love it....

    peace,

    Tim

  • Very cool instrument !

I'm also curious about the bassdrum sound :-)

  • The bass drum sound is a combination of 3 compressors, 2 distortion efx and a tekknoish sounding bass drum sample to beef it up. The result of tweaking the track about half an hour, lots of fun :-)

  • the snare sounds really cool, worth trying, the bassdrum's even better though:) its all natural or with some triggers?

  • The bass drum sound is a combination of 3 compressors, 2 distortion efx and a tekknoish sounding bass drum sample to beef it up. The result of tweaking the track about half an hour, lots of fun :-)

  • you play the same beat almost every time, its annoying.

  • @drumaddict26 thats drum n bass for you!

  • @drumaddict26 lol newfag lern2DnB

  • @drumaddict26 toy

  • really cool sounding but i guess you'll have to practise a bit on the new instrument. it always takes some getting used to when playing on a new instrument. but you have great ideas and the sounds you can get out of there are endless.

  • a fuckinn mazingggggg

  • GREAT. I want your kit :)
