For those of you who think they didn't loose much health, I pray I never have you as a healer. This isn't a button mashing game, it takes skill and timing. If you want to compare it to other game types try Monster Hunter or Demon Souls.

@Stnaire It's called skill. This game takes time to learn how to play correctly. This is team of experienced players. A good tank and healer to keep everyone alive.

And most of the time in this video, the player is just staying here, chaining skill calmly and taking no damage. at 1:48 we can clearly so how poor damages are even by a direct attack like this (from a boss !!).

@Stnaire Clearly your statement about "TRIED" the game is correct. The tank has plenty of buffs to keep from getting one hit. Funny that you point out that time frame as one of their party members nearly dies at that moment. Perhaps you should learn to focus on why a team like this is able to fight so well and survive fighting bosses like their nothing. Rather than trying to point out what errors you "FEEL" are in the game.

@EnergizerPvP This is the lancer gameplay. If you want to dodge, be fast and tank like a boss, do a warrior. When you tank as a warrior and you dodge everything you feels like a ubber god.
@finikiflame they are kinda changing Warriors to DPS next patch in KTERA though, combo points and all..... end game tanking seems tricky without +12 gear and getting hit looks super painful if you screw up lol.

@EnergizerPvP she used a lot of lancer skills in the video so I don't know what you are talking about, combos, swipes, chains, taunt, charge, etc etc. It's actually more movement than most WoW tanking. I'm in TERA NA CBT ATM and I used to be a tank in WoW, the play style is completely different and the combat in TERA is a lot more engaging.
The only reason I'm even anticipating this game is because classes are "supposed" to be well balanced. This is coming from a WoW player who played in Classic. I seriously hated how one class could always overpower another (especially when Retribution Pallies took over in BC and WoTLK). Then, the game later became to gear dependent. In this game, the fact that you have to aim your attacks - your skill, positioning, timing, and aiming determine your success in PvE & PvP. Thats a huge win IMO.
Lol i played the betas and got to lvl 27 in three days..whoever keeps saying this game is a grind is out of their damn mind.....go play FFXI in its prime them come back and bitch to me about grinding....jesus it took forever for max level in that game....TERA is by no means a grind get that mentality out of your head
not a big fan of TERA but the AI on the Boss look so good. Does not even look scripted, looks like its fighting for its life for real. Bet Tanking in this game is fun as hell
@caly101 It isn't scripted. At least not to the point where you can predict what's going to happen 3 steps ahead and such. Most of it is rng, where the players are positioned and a few patterns thrown into the mix. I dabbled in the beta bit last weekend and it's pretty dang fun. I really hope the game does well. We need more unique mmo's out there.

@Gamesaures If looks were all that mattered in a game it would great right? The difference with GW2 and Tera is that Tera doesnt involve locking on to enemies. You actually have to aim at the enemies constantly when attacking and dodging/guarding when the enemy attacks.
In almost all other MMORPGs you basically click on enemy to lock on and hit different attack buttons to attack and heal when health is low. You basically dont have to look at anything but you own health bar.

Still trying to see the hype of this game. This boss fight looks boring as all sin. Nothing new same old MMO boss fight. Grab a tank healer and some dps and go grind away. The combat looks dull and is not what I thought it would be. With it's semi active combat that only looks fun for melee. It looks to be nothing more then any other MMO out there. I do hope it does well but I can not see it going the long run with the same old play style alot of people are tired of.
@MrZockull Well, from a game developer standpoint, what you're saying isn't entirely true. EVERY mmorpg out there is going to be like "Grind, grind, grind" if you look at it from that viewpoint, but, there's a different feel here, combat is no longer static, it's something you can't notice a difference from unless you're actually playing.

@strikerk TERA is quite a lot different from conventional MMO styles such as WoW/LotRO/SWtoR.
The grind you talk of has been dramatically reduced in the western versions of the game and instead seems to focus more on BAMs for quests instead of "grind". Not sure why you say TERA is that grindy, its very quest based like the games mention above and just like GW2 is as well.
I suggest you try TERA for yourself instead of watching old videos and spurting out your GW2 fanboy crap.
If it was pay to play with an in game market, they'd probably make more money. Pay to play is slowly dying off, the only 2 games still with pay to play is WoW and Rift. WoW is losing numbers and Rift hardly had a shot. This game looks good. Good as hell. Just don't think I'll pay monthly for it.

@msstaffo2010 it is nothing like Vindictus other than the fact that you left and right click for your basic attacks. This is a real time MMO! Vindictus was basically an action game with some role playing type quests.
The fact that theyve put a First Person Shooter sort of targetting system into an sandboxed MMORPG will make this game revolutionary. Although I do hope there is a Parry or Dodge function to really add to the reaction based gameplay that FPS games offer.
@ItsPixieDust95 This is the lancer class (tradition tank) so it mainly uses blocking and has no need for dodging. Many of the other classes do in fact have different dodges and depend upon that to stay alive. The warrior class is actually an "evasive tank" class. Which is very skill-dependant
IDK guys, but every game that's from Asia with B ( . ) ( . ) B S turns out to be a utter grindfest failure all over again. RINSE N REPEAT is what I see from them. I hope TERA has something else to it.
@maplestoryhack Trust me, this game is not grind grind grind. There's a TON of quests, and in the CBT I did like not even 50% of the quests and still managed to level quickly and still be able to do the story quests. You can grind if you want, but I THINK it goes faster if you do quests. So dont worry, there is enough quests :p.

I just played this piece of shit on beta.. I don't even know why people are hyping this garbage.. I had more fun playing Amalur.. the combat is fucking retarded. @iamdevastate afaik the xp rate drops after 25-30 or so, so chances are you'll be able to level that fast after release.

At the end of the day, that's what really defines Tera - Player skill rather than avatar strength.

@kronchev Eve, every MOBA ever made, Aion, Dragon Nest, Swtor, WoW... there are a ton of games where the PVP content significantly outweighs PVE in terms of entertainment and replayability. All of which are incredibly successful so Idk where your coming from.

I just played this piece of shit on beta.. I don't even know why people are hyping this garbage.. I had more fun playing Amalur.. the combat is fucking retarded. I have to stand still to cast my magic bolt, fuck that shit.. The grinding is freakin horrendous past level 10.. The game even has the audacity to ask me to grind the same mob for 5x+ quest..
