Not to mention the DEFENSE by the citizens of the southern Appalachians, against being FORCED to join the CSA, at the point of a bayonet. I guess factual history, would be a retarded concept, to kool aid drinkers.
No, fairy princess, YOU'RE quite ignorant. 'Ole Jeff Davis, personally backed the invasion of the West. The Californians, Coloradans, and New Mexicans, blocked the CSA invasion at Valverde, and Glorieta. The USA's ally, Alexander II of Russia, sent a Russian fleet to San Francisco, to help counter a possible attack from the British navy, in the event they decided to help the CSA.
they never went westward fool, the forces that were from the west went with texas in the early stages of the war, they fought with the virginas,so yes you remain ignorant.
Look again. They were part of the New Mexico campaign. I'm pretty sure New Mexico is in the West, not in Virginia, even accounting for the fact that CSA New Mexico isn't the same as modern New Mexico.
Santa Fe is still were it was in 1862. So are the other areas that were invaded. Either way, The CSA initiated a war of conquest, against those territories. CSA politicos also planned to invade, and seize northern Mexico, and Cuba, as well. So much for 'we were just defending our homes, from invasion.'
I think all freedom loving people, should show our support for the radical muslims in Denmark. They have stood firm against the aggression of Scandinavian society. They are noble, chivalric, warriors fighting against the Danish conspiracy, to destroy their way of life. Their attacks on Denmark's embassies, and institutions, are nothing more than self defense, against an all-powerful oppressor.
"Hatred cannot be overcome by more hatred. Only Love conquers hate. This is a most ancient law." -The Buddha, Dhammapada, Chap. 1. So sorry the vitriol and acrimony still poisons your body. It's been 145 years! We are all Americans now. I have love and pride for both Lee and Grant, Blue and Gray, South and North. "With Malice Toward None ..."
We've tried the 'Malice Toward None' bit, for 140 years. It's not working with this lot. As with most of the USA's enemies, this thinking is perceived as weakness. Your way of thinking is just ducky, but it only works coming from BOTH sides. Well meaning, but dangerous. Please stop confusing the CSA,and Neo-Reb agitators, with the South. It marginalizes the sacrifices of a large number of Southerners.
Although I'm from the North - I live in PA about 2 hours to Gettysburg - I feel love and admiration for the brave southern lads defending their homes. Why so much hatred persists in the North? Blue and Gray = brothers!
(puking my guts out, as I type) The 'brave southern lads' that are your 'brothers', are the 120,000 who fought on the side of the USA.
The ones in the army that invaded our state were the enemy.
'Hatred persists in the North'. LOL. Read some (of the many) neo-reb sites, spewing regional hatred, then try to find similar sites run by 'Northern' partisans. I've tried. I've failed.
By your logic, Pearl Harbor was nothing more than the Japs, 'defending' their homes.
Actually, yes it does. But that another story. Nobody got killed as an act of war during the fort sumter inccident. South Carolina had secceded from the Union and the union troops at fort sumter refused to leave. Whatever the confederate congress decided to do about it was fully within their right. And besides, they had already been very patient with fort sumter for a long time. Asking all men of the union to return home in peace. But Lincoln decided it should not be so...
I personally agree that states have the right to secede, but the situation at the time was rather tense and confused. Lincoln was preparing to remove the troops from Sumter (although his motives were unpure, it would've happened soon enough). The soldiers at Sumter weren't doing anything personally wrong. There was no reason to fire.
es, the states had the right to seccede. That law was changed in 1868, to prevent that from happening again. Major Anderson of Fort Sumter refused to obey the confederate demand of union troops leaving their country, he said that he would only take his orders from president Lincoln himself. President Davis decided to fire on the fort because the gouvenor of South Carolina had recived a direct threat from Lincoln
The states have the right to secede even now, even if it is illegal.
No. Lincoln actually wouldn't have done anything of the nature, for political reasons. He didn't want to be seen as the agressor, because he knew Virginia would've gone to the CSA if he did, and European nations would be more likely to help the Confederacy (which would've made the US lose the war right there, more or less).
The fort was fired upon after a boat carrying food (no ammunition or soldiers or anything) came (SC was told ahead of time what the boat was), and the governor was too afraid of what the boat might contain. The militia in the area wasn't that large, and Union military supplies or soldiers could've resulted in a takeover of Charleston.
That ship never came, because the confederacy fired warning shots when it reached southeren territory. Lincoln was raged about this, so he telegraphed to the gouvenor of south carolina that he would try again, but this time by land. And the supplywagons would be heavely guarded. And if anyone tried to stop the convoy, they would fire to kill. Davis then choosed to open fire on fort sumter in respone to lincilns telegraaph. The land convoy was never shipped before war had begun.
I did several searched on that, and I've found nothing mentioning any sort of supply wagon. In fact, the Confederate ultimatum (April 10 or 11) was sent out less than a week after Lincoln told SC officials that it was just a supply ship (April 6). There was no way for the events you described to all take place over such a short span of time.
"April 6, 1861 Lincoln sends a special messenger to Gov. Pickens of South Carolina, informing him of the mission of the relief expedition, and promising him that if no resistence is offered, no troops, arms or ammunition would be moved into the fort."
I just found this on a website. I have an old civil war history book laying around *somewhere* and I could have sworn it talked about a supplywagon protected by union guards was planned to go to Fort Sumter. Lincolns plan was to relief the troops at Fort Sumter. And if the convoy was unnopposed nothing would happen. I can send you a link to the website if you wish?
The first expedition was forced to turn around because of warnings shots fired from cannons on land. The confederate "navy" did not interfere. I was certain that the 2nd expedition was by land, but I could be mistaken.
Allow me to rephrase that: Attempted murder. I had forgotten that the only Union fatality was the result of a malfunctioning weapon, rather than any Confederate martial competence.
In Honor of Jefferson Davis of Mississippi born 1808 in Kentucky.
June 3, 2007, is the 199th birthday of an American Hero--
"I love the Union and the Constitution, but I would rather leave the Union with the Constitution than remain in the Union without it." ---Jefferson Davis
"The principle for which we contended is bound to reassert itself, though it may be at another time and in another form." ---Jefferson Davis
Is our nation's history still taught in public schools?
People would gladly rob southerners of their cultural inheritance just for the fun of it. Yet, many of those people are now dead, will die, and the flag continues to fly, despite the controversy.
I have always belived that if the civil war began 10-20 years after slavery was abolished we might have a strong confederate nation today. And the history books would say little about slavery and the increased abolishment of confederate flags/tributes etc. would probally never have existed. And the union would be remembered as the ones who tried to force their laws upon a nation who did not want it. Just like the first war of independence.
Yeah. Try explaining that load of bull-shit, to the people who had to defend themselves against CUNTfederate aggression, and invasion. You can start with the black soldiers executed at Ft. Pillow. Then have a chat with the citizens of Eastern Tennessee, or the victims of the Shelton Laurel Massacre. Talk to the black citizens of Gettysburg, or the citizens of Chambersburg, or Lawrence, Kansas. Try that logic with the defenders of California, New Mexico, and Colorado.
have any proof? there is proof in the form of diaries(from confederates themselves) and such about confederates massacring unarmed and surrendered blacks.
HMMM. There is a difference between random acts committed by undisciplined, (or severely pissed off) soldiers, and official policy. Execution, was OFFICIAL CSA policy.
If the Civil War started with no slavery, the South probably would've won. After the Trent Affair, slavery was the biggest thing keeping Britain back from joining the CSA. Without slavery, Britain would've destroyed the Union. However, whether the CSA woudl be a strong nation is questionable. Its government structure was absolutely terrible... It was basically just trying the Articles of Confederation again.
The CSA would have balkanized, into warring sections.
It would have been interesting, to see how a member state's secession would have played with the CSA's government. Guess who would have been asked, to help the 'freedom fighters', against Richmond's aggression?
I say the South rises again but we gotta have Bush. Let California and the rest of them Yanks worry about Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama. God Bless the CSA
I keep hoping for this long-threatened resurrection.
My brand new AK47 has yet to be put to good use, killing dirty, yellow-bellied, bushwacking neo-rebs.
Why can't you weak, degenerate, rednecks EVER get this thing off the ground. I'm not getting any younger, and my trigger finger is itchin sumthin turrible.
nauiocelotl>> I seriously belive you need some history lessons. I also belive everyone have the right to have their oppinion, which is why I don't delete your post regardless of how wrong and imature it sounds.
The war, flag, and confederacy have nothing to do with white supermacy nor slavery. To be a confederate is to be proud of who you are, where you came from and those who came before you. PROUD SOUTHERN HERITAGE NOT HATE. Nice video.

Sieg Heil.

Union soldiers executed black confederate soldier coming into prison camps on the spot

have any proof? there is proof in the form of diaries(from confederates themselves) and such about confederates massacring unarmed and surrendered blacks.

My brand new AK47 has yet to be put to good use, killing dirty, yellow-bellied, bushwacking neo-rebs.
Why can't you weak, degenerate, rednecks EVER get this thing off the ground. I'm not getting any younger, and my trigger finger is itchin sumthin turrible.

The war, flag, and confederacy have nothing to do with white supermacy nor slavery. To be a confederate is to be proud of who you are, where you came from and those who came before you. PROUD SOUTHERN HERITAGE NOT HATE. Nice video.
