@shanehey That's a valid observation to make, however I've fired this rifle both with and without using the sling and it makes very little difference as to where the groups land. What the sling does do is let me hold the rifle more steady and shoot tighter groups than without it.
@onmilo I pulled a number of these rounds apart last year and weighed the bullets, brass and powder, it impressed me as being quite consistent. I also chronographed ten out of my M39 and they had a standard deviation of only 17.7 FPS. Good stuff.
I would use my bayonet on my gun but I would feel weird at the local shooting range with a bayonet fixed to my gun...

@likasombodeeee Guaranteed that people will either ask questions about it or will leave you alone!

cant belive they had to use the bayonet, would suck running around with that long ass gun all day

@cowboy836 That it would, however if you were in the Soviet Army in the time of Stalin you would be used to doing lots of things that sucked...

Your putting pressure on the barrel with the carry strap by using it as a shooting sling. So your test is invalid.

@shanehey Believe me, unlike some guns the Mosin could not care less.

I just fired a Mosin Nagant for the first time today! Love your channel, keep it up :)

@Cgriff512 Which model of Mosin did you shoot?
314299 1 month ago
@314299 It was a standard M91/30 made in 1943, not sure at which arsenal. It was my friend's rifle so I'll see if he knows.

& now I am going to round up some Privi 182 fmj at the upcoming gun show as this ammo isn't supposed to shoot well because of undersize bulets,,,

Very nice group with the bayonet :)
Gungeek 1 month ago
@Gungeek Yeah, I thought it was decent, especially for a rifle that is machined rough as hell.

@314299 Those war time guns look good to me for some reason lol. :)

the SKS also shoots better groups with the bayo extended .

@MrLongbranch303 I tried one of mine one day but it didn't seem to make much difference, perhaps I should try one of the others.

@314299 try a Norinco with a spike bayo if you have one ..
MrLongbranch303 1 month ago
@MrLongbranch303 I'll give that a try next time I have it out to the range.

You should bring out the Carbine for a fourth reply.

@Yukon12gauge I still have the other half a box of Prvi so I even have the ammo to do that.
314299 1 month ago
Brrr I stayed home and rolled some .45's. Kinda fitting to shoot the Mosin-Nagant on a cold day.
Yukon12gauge 1 month ago
@Yukon12gauge Yeah, cold but no wind to speak of. I took my .45 out for a run today as well. The old 91/30 works well in the cold - as expected.
