Your putting pressure on the barrel with the carry strap by using it as a shooting sling. So your test is invalid.

@shanehey That's a valid observation to make, however I've fired this rifle both with and without using the sling and it makes very little difference as to where the groups land. What the sling does do is let me hold the rifle more steady and shoot tighter groups than without it.

@onmilo I pulled a number of these rounds apart last year and weighed the bullets, brass and powder, it impressed me as being quite consistent. I also chronographed ten out of my M39 and they had a standard deviation of only 17.7 FPS. Good stuff.

Brrr I stayed home and rolled some .45's. Kinda fitting to shoot the Mosin-Nagant on a cold day.

@Yukon12gauge Yeah, cold but no wind to speak of. I took my .45 out for a run today as well. The old 91/30 works well in the cold - as expected.
