They chose Chinese models because flying 70 European/American models to China for such an event with DRAMATICALLY increase the cost of the show. They also won't only send a few European models, because they would be much taller and designers like to get the height of the models close.

Fendi didn't use Asian models JUST CAUSE they were in China. It may seem like it but that's not what they did.

All models are represented by an agency in different cities. No matter where. This is how you get a job, where they do castings. Sadly, not all models belong to an agency in Beijing. Even top models only belong to agencies that are located in North America or Europe.

The girls that showed most likely are Beijing based and the European models have contracts in an agency in Beijing.

It is quite to see an attempt by Fendi to establish a market and brand awareness in beijing. I think its a non issue of whether they use or not use asian models in traditional setting, as when it comes to marketing brands, its about set values, why would they use parisian based models in Bejing and Beijing based models in Paris.

Anyways in taking it a step further, its such an international world now, what is traditional anyways. As long as u can afford it.

No. Just truthful...much. The fact remains that there was no way on this 70% water/30% land spherical mass, that more then one asian model would actually open and walk the show, in the labels' home country/and or fashion shows.

I'm saying that whenever LVMH wants to sell to Asian consumers, Asian models instantly become "Important." But, you really wouldn't EVER see a Asian model, or any other model of color, opening up a runway show, in the labels home country. There's a difference between advertising to a certain demographic and being played.

i think they chose chinese models because they are IN china and using the great wall of china. i think they are paying homage to the country by showing the beauty of their own people.

I think a part of your response is an accurate assertion, but the other is devoid of clear understanding. This was nothing more then a marketing stunt to increase interest and brand awareness, it's not the first time they've held an event like this. It should actually be offensive, because these model wouldn't traditionally walk a Paris based show, for any of their labels. They would be disregarded and ignored.
