See this video which says DO NOT place your HDD into a freezer, however they didn't wrap it first.... youtube.com/watch?v=ad1uVAB5bNA&feature=related
Ok I'm sorry but that High Voltage Power supply is just a dumbfucks way of seeing your HD burn out. That is extremely dangerous because when I tested it this not only burnt the cover but left shock marks on the rims of the HD Internal Disc and was COMPLETELY RUINED. ITS NOT A CAR THAT YOU CAN SHOCK TO LIFE WITH YOUR HUGE ASS BATTERY!!!
Data recovery software is really a good thing, MiniTool data recovery software is a good choice for you. crash hard drive, it is just a piece of cake.
Someone must sue the idiot created the video, telling people to use HDD Terminator ( Regenerator ) better use MHDD and better 4.5 ) has the ATA shell :) ) or Victoria
I knew my 250GB is standing on its last legs, i did the "freeze disk" and "frizbee disk" and it worked! , as soon as i copied all my data of the disk.. i bencmarked it with Everest Ultimate, then it made a loud bang... loads of scratin sounds.. and then it died. it lasted 2:48 min. with a Avarage Read Acces test, last steps were 14.30ms, minimum was 13.09ms, when i heard the loud bang it was 3531.00ms!! the overall average was 95.52ms (read acces) ... so tnx alot for your help!
my computer crashed like crazy, it wouldnt come on right and all that stuff. they had a black screen, then a blue one and it flashed and all. my grandpaw fixed it. i even formatted c drive partition. all he did was unplug one of my hard drives, and i still had all of my stuff. and my grandpaw is 61 years old, he's smart. he also fixes laptops
@the1hero1of1time thats gud news. its just that may b ur hard disk has gone bad..the blue screen generally appears when there's sumthing wrong wid a piece of hardware... unfortunately its very difficult to fix such a drive coz the reason is generally faulty electronics in the HDD!
Mine is for my laptop I managed to get into it without damaging anything. I haven't tried any of these tips. Whats happening is my computer starts up and then I get the windows loading screen. after that I just get my mouse cursor and a black screen. I know it is due to my harddrive failing but just wanted to know if any of these could possibly work now even after the drives expired lol.

Does the freezing technique really work if my hard drive is clicking? I am having a clicking problem and all my data is stored in my drive, without any backup. I really need help.
and now when i try to open it it says :cannot read, possibly corrupt data" (but it still show that the drive is there when i open my computer, but it says it has 0 bytes) are there any good programs that can fix it? i would do that chkdsk thing, but i'm affraid of permanently loosing data...
@elemental0wnage chkdsk will not format ur drive it will jus scan it for errors.I think u can try some version of partition magic, but i'm not sure if it will help u. since it seems ur OS is running so theres nothing wrong wid ur hard drive.may b its jus an OS prob. u shud connect ur HDD to some other PC den istall partition magic on it and see what u can do. Best of luck though.
Ok i got a 500gb Hdd and when ever i put it in my computer the powersupply cuts out, i have to take out the HDD and unplgg the computer and then plug the power cable back in to get the computer to boot Without the Hdd I thinks that it's screwd =[ which is a shame cause its 500gb
most people have a single drive .. most people go out and buy a STORE bought computer those usually come stock with only ONE drive, and they never bother to install a second . especially laptops
my 200 gb external hard drive does work but somtimes when i use it it locks up and i have to turn it of and then on again, but i doubt i can get away with that forever.
Im looking for a way to back up my 180 gb of data but i dont have anything large enough to back it up with. is there some online thing that i could use?
ok guys after being quoted almost $3000 dollars i said what the hell, put my 1 terabyte western digital in the freezer overnight, i was pretty desperate it actually worked for a good 5 minutes , copied some important files then put it back in the freezer for a couple more hours, just copied the almost 2GB I needed :-)
Hi morrison my harddisc is clicking the price for recovering is pretty much fucked up. i have a 500 Gigabyte HD i was so pissed of when this happend. how many houres did you let it in your freezer and when u copied did u let in the freezer or u took it away from the freezer and then copied. Let me know fast Morrison.
I'm so desperate right now!
I don't have the money to pay like 1500 EURO's. Greetings from Belgium
i kept the hard drive in the freezer over night, then i took it out of the freezer and plugged it in, worked for a few minutes then shut off so i put in back in the freezer for maybe 5 or 6 hours then i tried again , this time it worked long enough for me to copy the stuff i needed
THANK YOU for the vidoe! It is a great one!Yes the idea of freezing sounds odd,but it does work. Now i haven't tried, but as soon as i will have problems with my HDD,i will try this!! So thanks again! 5 stars from me!
You saved my life (hard disk actually). I had a Western Digital HDD and at one point I switched off the PC and it wouldn't boot unless i detached that HDD

i just spent 3 minutes watching a video for some guy to tell me to turn my computer off and turn it back on...

well u can try changing the entire Circuit board on the HDD with a new one.
or ask the HDD company to repair it(most HDDs have 5 years of warranty).
natkhatgopal 2 years ago
Unfortunately is was originally an external HDD so does this mean im screwed D:?
daydream605 2 years ago
even external HDD has a circuit board. open the case. and see if u can change the circuit board.

If you don't have a working computer to download the repair/recovery software, use a friend's or family member's computer.
