  • this movie felt like a dark comedy for me

  • Oh and EXCELLENT review Vince. Wow.

  • My interpretation was that the 1980s urban upper class was a very good place for a psycho to be

What made me uncomfortable (which is a good thing) is the lack of humanity in Bateman and the upper class world the film satirizes. No one seems to care about compassion, love or empathy. The prostitute knows that Bateman likely will hurt her, but the dollar is more important than her possible safety. Everything is a show; friendship and love mean nothing if there's no economic or status benefit.

  • Awesome, after superhero rewind watching this. When does the Friday The 13th films come?

  • the truth of this film is actually that the main-character is a necrophile.

  • this movie was quite confusing to me

but after listening to this review, it makes a lot more sense to me

this movie is so deep bro.

  • How do you feel about the remake that was just announced?

  • @bigeddy74 They're making a remake?

  • @666lilnickY Yup, Lionsgate gave the greenlight.

  • @666lilnickY Yes they are

  • where's nightmare on elm street?

  • This review is excellent, and I hate to say it (after you essentially told us not to) but you really need to read the book if you haven't already. Yes this is a dark satire of the 80's but the focus is really Patrick Bateman's plunge into madness. The irony here is that this world of wealth is just as insane and dark as Patrick Bateman's sociopathic mentality. Patrick Bateman is a reflection of the world around him. The focus is his lack of humanity. There simply is no real "me".

  • Check out this interesting Two-Face fan film on my page. Its mean. Its raw. It aint half bad..

Ps. The dude playing Harvey Dent kinda looks like Christian Bale. Weird.

  • i used this exactly for a personal research paper in university. thanks vince

  • Simply amazing, I'm subscribing now

While I think your interpretation of the murders is solid, I personally thought that Bateman was actually a killer, and that the society was covering the killings up as facing this glaring issue would call their social structure into question. simply put, facing this deep problem would call their surface existence into question, and destroy the facade they had invested so much in

Keep up the great work :)

  • 10:20 BEST FACE EVAR!!!!

  • Where is that NOES rewind.

  • Excellent REVIEW!!!

I felt there was a greater meaning to the film, and had to find out more about the purpose of it. You have fulfilled exactly what I was looking for and I thank you for that. Excellent FILM, was very different to what I have been exposed to at the moment.

Keep it up bra. 5/5 for the review.

  • Please change the title from Review to Analysis. I did watch the whole thing and enjoyed it, but it wasn't what I was looking for and is very misleading.

  • oh my god, i had to pause the video for a minute because my brain was overloading haha

  • Hey Geekvolution, I need to know your thoughts on Midnight Movie because I’m considering if I should buy the DVD or not. I hear nothing, but good things from my friends, but I’ve heard from other people that it isn’t for everyone.

  • @DJSexLeopard They compliment each other because they are both character driven narratives, rather than plot driven ones. I have always wondered what it would be like if Ellis and Palahniuk teamed up to write a book where Patrick Bateman and Tyler Durden fought each other. I would think that Durden would have the up hand since he is the much more unpredictable character, although Bateman is cold and calculating, and in some regards would understand how Tyler's mind works.

  • There is one chapter in particular that absolutely serves to support your observations. In the chapter, Patrick is smearing a dead girls meat across the walls of his apartment, then attempts to make her into sausages, then begins to cry because he has never cooked anything for himself. Not surprisingly, the movie and novel do tie in very closely together, however Patrick Bateman in the movie is gentler than Patrick Bateman in the novel.

  • one word ( enlightening )

  • This is undeniably fantastic. Greatly engaging insight into the more complex aspect of the film. Primarily the book is a psychological thriller hence the main character's visceral impulses. Well done in this succint video

  • I can't believe I watched the whole review... very good to say the least

  • a very nice analysis, i agree with many points you have stated.

  • great review vince

  • I'm looking forward to you doing the grudge movies. Particularly the second one. Hands down, at this point Grudge 2 is my favorite horror movie. I know that those aren't very popular to many but I just love them and I love the story line of the second one.

  • I kinda thought of this film as a modern version of the Tell tale heart or am I mistaken?

  • Thus, therefore, theoretically, consequently, accordingly, hence, furthermore, additionally, hypothetically, supposedly, positivity yet negatively ironically absolutely, allegedly, evidently, apparently, hypothetically, purportedly American Psycho is a good movie. I am Vince, thanks for watching.

  • Cool Vince Is The Man! Dope Video Bro!

  • Vince, your review is simply brilliant.

  • A long-awaited, long overdue critique.. One well worth it

  • Vince, how often are these premiering? Every Sunday?

  • @dre2you As much as I would like to do that, I just don't have the ability to make that promise. But I am thinking of ways to produce more content.

    -Vince

  • @Geekvolution No pressure man, I understand that something of the this amazing quality takes time.

  • @Geekvolution American Psycho is not a horror its actually a comedy to me, I laughed alot.

  • this isn't a review, this is an analysis.

lol I thought when you said gaze, you meant "gays" :P

  • this isn't a review, this is an analysis

  • Brilliant review Vince!

  • Wow. Great thesis!...I mean review.

  • why is there no play list of these on the main channel?

  • @Sydpart2 YouTube only lets you have three on the channel (apparently). There is a Horror Movie Rewind playlist, but you just can't see it on the channel.

    -Captain Logan

  • @Geekvolution hmm odd, I'll have to look for it. Been really bored lately so I've just been watching your guys videos while playing tetris lol. I loved the superhero rewinds and am glad to see these now.

  • @Geekvolution really? I have four playlists that the audience can see. Try going to videos and playlists and ticking the ones you want to show

  • what are the chances, watched this for the first time last night thinking how awesome it would be if geekvolution reviewed it... and they did! :D

  • @SupersonicMudkip You's a faggit

  • @McBawse You are an idiot.

  • @MrThedorkknight Right you, calm it. I know him IRL and was joking.

  • This is such a great review. Having read the book itself, this has given me more insight to the film and book as a whole.

  • the frighteners count as a horror...right?

  • Do you think you'll be reviewing any of the Halloween movies?

  • @Geekvolution Good God. That was fantastic! Bravo, sir; this is wonderful examination of the film. Just phenominal. By the way, the scene where Patrick drags the body out of the lobby and meets Louis on the curb is interesting. Notice when he's dragging it inside the building, there is a clear blood-trail. Then look in through the doors when Bateman is outside; there's no blood on the foyer. The psychology is fascinating.Great film.

  • batman and american psycho? weird

  • 31:50

  • Great Review. Thoroughly insightful. You should consider releasing these for download as podcasts or something.

  • This film has so many great quotes in it. I busted out laughing when I heard the line, "Don't just stare at it, eat it!"
