is there any genetic studies done to determine if the Siberian and native north americans (alaskan/canadian are related? Any similarities in language, religion, food, homes, dressing,
Jon, thank you so much for sharing The Raven's Gift with the world. I just finished the book about a week ago, and the whole time I was reading I'd find myself thinking, "Oh, stop being so literal! Open up to the spirit..." And then came the end of the book; I was blown away by the ending, and it all really came together for me, and you've done a wonderful thing in changing my perspective and appreciation of life. And to see Moolynaut's face, what an honor!
I just finished the book picked it up at Los Osos library and Moolynaut looks here exactly as you described her, Jon. As a matter of fact it's all just like you described it. Good job.
Very interesting. Maybe you should go to Kamchatka and visit your ancestors. If you want to make the journey, let me know and I'll do what I can to help. You can always reach me at my regular email: jon@jonturk.net.
...ya know i might be part koryak....i was born in siberia and my mother died when i was a baby. i was adopted when i was 1 but i know nothing of my family, bloodline, heritage, etc. i dont even know my mothers name!
yes, but more than that, the Koryak people, in general, need help. It is very difficult to do however. There is a lot of momentum in Russia that is hard to trun around.
Those amazing people have the hardest life on earth, and yet they are making a come-back after near decimation from civilization. A 96 year old woman working outdoors in the cold! We have it so easy, and yet they have something we've lost.
The common people ornament themselves so beautifully while we wear boring clothes. I would like to visit these people. Thanks for caring about them and for sharing. I suspect they have much more to teach us...lots.
Thanks, mtnman2012: You bet, in our consumer society, it is so uplifting to see the strength of positive energy from the heart and the earth. Not to sound too commercial, but I'd love it if you would pick up my book about these people, The Raven's Gift. I think it will take you to places you haven't been before.
You know whats weird? Native Siberians and Native Americans look similar and Europeans came through and took over their land lol. Really, compare the 2 and they look similar lol.
Thanks Jameswx09 Yes, Native Siberians and Native Americans look similar because they are very closely related biologically as well as culturally. Yes, and Europeans took over their land. Is that weird? I would use the words cruel, ruthless, predatory.
i found that you turks were very eager to find your relatives around the whole world.. seems like all the pigs and dogs are your relatives or ancesters too. if you find they are someday, then congratulations.
LOL that's so true!! what on earth is with that?! turks claiming everyone as their relatives!!!!!! i thought i was the only one that noticed. even lezginka dance videos, turks post so many of them and say oh georgians are our brothers and shit like that. they are weird people. and jon turk is just the guy's name...
They are brainwashed by Atatyurk's pan-Turkist idea which also includes originally non turkic ppl like paleoasians, tungusic, mongolic, uralic and caucasian speakers etc. In other words they are creating this idea to become rulers of buffer zone, inhabited by non-indoeuropean and non-hamitic as well as non-sino tibetian ppl, therefore becoming real power by themselves.
@turkjon5 No, I don't think you did. Of course, "Paleo-Siberian" languages are not a genetic family, and the folks who speak them aren't necessarily particularly close ethinically--much less a "race".

i believe your country was completely conquered in the 12th century by another. Is that not true? I don't think any country can brag about anything.
