I love Iron Chef Masuhara Morimoto! He's not only an amazing chef but he's funny and has a great additude even when stressed. He's just so much fun to watch just like Micheal Symone
Of course it is all edited... we don't get to see the chefs talking to their sous chefs as much as they do. But yeah, they do get some time in advance to prepare.
they are given three options as to what the secret ingredient is, and they a 1 month to prepare, and when it's time to battle, it's revealed what the secret is
I am unsure, but I do believe that they are also given a list of a lot of different ingredents that may show up, and a week to prepare. They don't know which ingredient it is till the unveiling though.
@TheMrpalid would be nice if they surprised the chef's, cooking as long as these guys have, you know what goes with what. Morimoto is a Michelin star chef, Mario Batalli is considered to be the "gastronomic king" of america. They know what herbs, fruits, veg, and spices, go with which type of food. So I hope they do surprise these chefs and that they have to cook basically off the top of their head. Hopefully it's like a rap freestyle but with cooking you know.
@SkrelosDaMage Can you tell me where you got that info from?
I read someone else's comments from another video saying that Chef Robert Irvine told him that the chefs are given only three options and are told to prepare a menu and a list of ingredients that would need to be purchased.
This seems more logical, since it might take more than a week to procure some of the ingredients the chef needs especially.
me too! although... My Mom is sceptical abouit the 'secret ingredient.' "how can they NOT know what it is? the chefs barely talk to each other the whole time! how do they knoe who's making what???""

Not so much three options, and not so much a month.
more like over 20 options, and about a week.
