@alexmc69 it is a quite old video, i should check... anyway if i remind well it was the ac30 simulation on pod with all stock (in sense, all with settings you get when just put on the amp) except for master volume to max. i usually play with master volume to max with pod sims. no stomp (it sound vey bad the pod stomps for my ears), no eq, no modulation, anything except a plate reverb
@alexmc69 thank you! i checked the settings for you, it should be this one class a30 tb drv 10 (5 is midnight) bass 4 mid 6 tre 4 pre 0 vol 10 all of except large hall reverb tone 50% pre 50% post config
got the same guitar i changed the tremolo for a wilkinson. this guitar is awesome. i've some american strats and the yamaha sounds better... i bought the americans for more than 1000 euros the yamaha cost me only 450 euros( second hand).
@pimentankou unfortunately from some time yamaha stop to sell this model, now pacificas are just cheap models (a bit over entry level). it is a very good guitar, the problem is anyone famous at the moment use this model and people watch brand and names... this explain the price, i payed a pair of year ago 500 euros brand new (and fender costs at time 1150 euros new more than double!). we need to use ears and fingers, not eyes to judge a guitar
hi, this may sound like a stupid question but next week i will start taking guitar lesson and i have it all but the guitar cable, it is ok if buy any cable or it affects in the overall sound of the guitar??? thanks
@ivncdo0809 i read in a wrong way your question, so i delete my past reply. you're starting so buy guitar cable you want, there is a tone affect depending on quality but you need first class instrumentation, long cables and a very good ear. if you buy one with metal plugs and you can solder, you can repair in future, but maybe you save time buying another one. usually better cables has bigger diameter. take one no longer than you need, signal decrease with distance
@HugoStrife I'm gonna get one soon I hope. They're so great! You should get some information about them. Really cheap guitars but almost unknown. They use Grover, Licensed Floyd-Rose and good pickups (Rockfield, not so known but very well, and EMG). Most expensive models are about 700$, 5xx euros.
Nice Yamaha Pacifica friend, with other brands you only pay the name, just like Dean or Ibanez. Expensive and the materials arent that good, and pickups...
@jobjob76 grover tuners, set-thru body, good mahogany, original floyd rose, some of them with EMG, and I've seen them for about 400-500 euros. Theyre great, BC Rich are much worse in my opinion
I have six Pacifica's, "GREAT" Guitars. Shame i suck on them. Build quality is as good as any Fender, i have some of those too! and i like the fact that it is an original design, influenced, but not a copy of the Fender Stratocaster.
@MITCHWILD i've tried severa yamaha and pacificas, there are good instruments. price are usually confusing for a guitar, is not a meter for his quality. some reissue models for example has less features (think to the tele 52) and cost more, that is quite absurd :)
@rafport Yes, absurd indeed, when you buy a Fender you are paying for the name on the headstock, and it's history, that's not the best way to but a guitar!
@MITCHWILD this is true for almost all musical stuff. see how much costs the yamaha sg2000 just because it was the guitar of santana and other great guitarists. ok is a good guitar, but see their price and did a relation to a pacifica or with others. and there are unknow brand with any history and any endorser that did excellent instrument for a much cheaper price. if you stop to read price and names andjust use ears, there are many deals :)
@OneLoveJK people are not all same. not all player are seeking just brands like fashon teens, someone use ears. there are excellent guitar cheaper than yamaha too. just ears and fingers should be used, brand is not important, price is less important too (in sense, maybe is not expensive but is good or the opposite).
@buckleyboyben In case noone told you yet,yes the neck is nice and thin.I have an 812 and have played several other pacificas.Basically the same neck.I just put in a Dimarzio super distortion humbucker(bridge),a Dimarzio area 67 middle pick-up,and a YJM neck pickup, and some custom switches, splitters. Was nice before-is amazing now.
very nice guitar, sound and playing...i wish i could buy this guitar...

veryhighsamurai 9 months ago

@rafport Thanks for the advice; I'm running a Pacifica 904 into a POD XT and wanted to recreate your tone... it's beautiful!

Sad how just because the guitar doesn't say "Fender" or "Gibson" on it, people overlook such high quality.

@rafport Yea I agree completely, I was just saying how it's sad that so many people don't use their ears but rather brand name recognition.

The guitar sounds very nice. Is this guitar better than the 812w model?
valdaligo 2 years ago
