she has no form... he feet arent flat on the ground, losing weight stabilization, which is dangerous. and above all, her thumbs arent in front of the bar when lifting, making it very possible for all those 135 lbs to fall on her chest..
Great job, recommend working on your grip. Wrap your thumbs around the opposite side that your fingers are on. Otherwise bar could slip off and land on you.
@mrApollo352 Actually, I do not doubt that what you say is absolutely true. This means that you are stronger than about 95% of the men on the planet. Thus, would you guess that Susan is stronger than...say....60% of the men on the planet?
@Steelauthor It's awsome to see a woman workout like this. It pisses me the fuck off seeing every girl at my gym doing these worthless step ups and using weight that they can do 100 reps with. Watching this vid makes me horney, no lie.
No disrespect taken. Now I am about to burst everybody's bubble. After 3 cups of coffee, Susan can get TEN REPS at this weight! Did that EVER occur to anyone? Her MAX is around 185. I stand by my original statement...all of you math geniuses....Susan is stronger than most men....MUCH stronger. That's PECTORAL muscle perking those babies up! She's 5 foot 9 and about 150. Just accept it and stop whining. A few high school football players and wrestlers can beat that. Most high school guys CAN'T
well she does have good technique thats for sure but the part where it says she can bench more than most men I dont think thats true but whats her 1 rep max now? since this was filmed in 08
@BehemothSuper What planet are you living on? Most men are couch potatoes or weak as babies. Forget all the old guys..and just about anybody in India or Bangledesh or Haiti or any other Third World country. Forget about most teenagers, they are just playing video games. Thank you for writing, but you need to leave your gym and get out in the real world just a little. Once you reflect for a while, you will realize that I'm right.
@Steelauthor I have to agree with BehemothSuper, most men are not "weak as babies" and are nothing like those sitcom butts of jokes that ask their wife to open a jar of peanut butter. It's only a handful that are afraid of all physical work. And third world areas? Most people have to work hard there, so they won't all be weak. And don't understimate old people, my dad is 63 and strong as an ox. And video games? Everyone plays those now and then, I bet even Magnus Samuelson.
@Steelauthor forget about India, Bangledash or Haiti or any other third world country?
LOL ingorance is bliss. I guess because you live in any of those you've got it easy and do have to relie on strength? They must all be weaklings because they don't eat cheeseburgers all day or have gyms to "work out" at? All the modern convenices make us stronger right? nothing more useful than being able to lift 135lbs 4 times on your back in only a certain way...
@Steelauthor I believed the same thing that you believe, until I started to intern as a weight training assistant. There were guys in there who were scrawny, perhaps 115-130 pounds, but put up 185. I wouldn't say most people are as weak as once perceived.
@Steelauthor intel is an american company but still it has employed more than 50% of indian scientists as opposed to only 20% americans, oh thats a real shame, ibm which is also an american company enjoys majority of employed indians rather than americans, the prestigious bee competition(spelling) is ruled by indians,it just goes to show that americans are living a fantasy, boy face the reality, indian IT pros are renowned world over ,it seems u know nothing about india, stereotyped americans lols!
@haggiss You mean she doesn't grip the bar like You, you little girly man. And if you are trying to imply that she is bouncing the bar off her chest, she is not. So that is TWICE in one inane comment that you are wrong. Even if she was, does that look painful to you, sissy boy? If so, that woman has a much higher pain threshold than you....why don't you take up water aerobics instead of weights, cupcake?
no what i mean is she is gripping the bar with a suicide grip so if she dropped the weight at the peak of her extension it would crush her sternum, even with her airbags that males dont have.
I like how easy you make it look! I might bench a little more, but I probably outweigh you by 50 pounds. Your shape is lovely and your strength deceptive. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, it is impressive....but what planet are you living on? Most men are couch potatoes or weak as babies. I noticed you had your feet up and thats what i do when warming up and that tells me your not even staining, so you probably press close to 200+ and I am glad you wrap when it gets heavy. I powerlift in 5 federations and I have seen my share of accidents but I do the same as you when I warm up. Take care and keep lifting strong.
Great lift but using that suicide grip is dangerous I have seen alot of terrible things happen to people from fractured faces to crushed larynx's your very strong but please wrap your thumbs for safety!
definitly a plate on each side (45pds ea) for those dumbasses who think its more.. shes pro lol, aside from what someone said about the elbow locking :|
shes benching 135 there people dont get all worked up that shes benching 165, she wouldn't be able to do it that easy unless she was a super freak or sumthin
that's bullshit, if he worked out for 2 whole years he must've started at 0llbs, meaning he didn't have arm 2 years ago. Naturally a man can do up to at least 100llbs by the age of 15, 65llbs is bullshit. I'm 15 and i max out at 315llbs.
No, Suboy. 51% of the men in the United States cannot bench more than 135 for reps. I have been a Personal Trainer for 23 years and have seen it all. About 1% of the pot bellied couch potatoes over 60 can, and perhaps 10% of the men in the 40-60 year old age category are able to. Men in California are in better shape, but the ones in States like Michigan more than make up for it. Most of the 20-40 years olds are too busy partying or working to pick up a weight...trust me.
That is true facts, many people kids, adults, etc... Are not able to bench over 135LB. This is because they are not physically in shape that way. Also like stated above many of the older people that are bigger in body mass are able to do it but barely.
Basically if your not trained properly you will most likely fit in the category that can't. :)
Not exactly more than most guys, but more than the average untrained male. The average male (including the untrained) can bench press about 120 lbs 1 time, but the average male, even with novice training, could probably bench press at least 185 lbs for a couple reps.
Nonetheless, 135 IS impressive for a girl, and other than the propping the feet on the bench (which could be a hazard if she tips to one side or the other, feet on the ground provide a stable base), it was good form overall.
So what can most women in their 20's bench? I can lift the bar but just barely, it's really heavy for me. Granted I never work out I just remember trying the bench press once and was like My God, this thing weighs a ton.
You're about dead-center average. Most women can bench the bar for 1-3 reps. It'll get easier really fast once you get used to the motion. Years ago (when I started working out), I started with 135 (I'm a guy, so obviously I'd use triple digits), and I did 1x3, and it felt kind of like fighting for my life to get the bar up each time, but once I got used to the motion, 135 felt like pennyweight for me. I'm sure if you do it for awhile (maybe start out lighter) the bar will feel light to you.
Thank you. You're absoloutley right, I did 2 reps with the bar then told the spotter take this otherwise I was gonna drop it on myself. My friend can bench 120 for a few reps and she told me about a year ago when she 1st started out she could barely lift the bar too but you build muscle mass quickly. She also said with me being 100 lbs. the bar is pretty good cause 45 lbs. is almost half my body weight. Anyway thanks for your input.
Also, I want to add, don't get discouraged if after a few months you hit a plateau because beginners' gains are a boom, and then it slows to a trickle. Just keep working at it, and look for ways to surpass any plateau you may hit. I think you'll be able to progress to at least 85 lbs before worrying about any plateaus. But for now, just keep working at it and worry about any potential plateaus only when they come so it's not in the back of your mind now.
cuz u put way too much stress on ur joints... theyre stiff not flexible like your muscle... its like the difference between throwing a solid rock and a rubber softball... one wont bend (rock) and if it does, its permanent damage

Although it is more than "many men". But not a majority of them.

@Steelauthor Pounds the average 175-pound man (aka : average weight, average height is 5'9 1/2) can bench-press one time:
Age 20-29 30-39 40-49 50-59 60-69
Lbs 180 158 143 128 116
But she does have very good form and is doing much more weight than the average woman.
