Thank you! I've been looking for raw vegan cheese that doesn't rely on a $500 vitamix. I have the same little four cup food processor. This gives me hope :-D.
I am back under a new name. My real name is Marissa from NY, and I am trying to get my boyfriend and friends to become more healthy. It helps with depression and brings me tons of energy. I am not a total raw foodist. I eat Sockeye Alaskan Salmon. I heard that the omegas are more easily absorbable. I don't fry or bake oil, I eat mostly raw foods. I feel fantastic. I love daneloin greens.I don't even heat my teasI eat lower sugar fruits mostly. Organic.beans, wheatgerm, buckwheat groats, feel great.
Somehow your other post got deleted...not my fault! Anyhow, I think your diet is fine...get your boyfriend into QUALITY food, no matter what style (vegan, carnivore...WHATEVER). Get him to value quality and get them off of processed garbage. Keep eating the wild foods too...that is really the key. You dont have to be a total raw foodist, I actually think there is a downside to that. Youre own the right track, especially with the low sugar fruits and wild food.
I think that using raw fresh cashews with some stevia, a little salt, and some water blended well together make great fresh cashew butter. It's very versatile. --Kim
This is a great. I am fowarding these recipes to friends and family. This is what kind of diet I am on right now. I mix Hunza diet with Macrobiotic..my own thing. I feel great. Thankyou for sharing I need ideas!
There are some great seed and nut cheese recipes online now...look into pine nuts and macadamias blended with nama shoyu and garlic and lemon juice...use that as a spread and youre all set.
And remember..its about what you do MOST of the time...dont beat up on yourself if you have a little bit once in a while. When and if you are ready to give it up for good, you will. It will happen exactly how its supposed to.
yeah, I'm still using ricotta once in a while. For parmesan cheese you can use pumking seeds, sea salt and some nutritional yeast and grind all these together. it tastes so good, but I do sometimes go for real parmesano.
I stabilized...it depends on your activity and the amounts of nuts I eat. Too many cashews and almond butter will get me a bit thick in the face if I sit around. It still boils down to calories. Your best best is to stay full on greens and keep the fruits for the morning.
Thank You for this very nice video. Yes, I believe you are right; they are so hard to find, pick and eat and also to find as truly raw. Maybe be we aren't supposed to eat them but they are sooo good! Especially for those who are allergic to macadamians etc. They do fill their purpose. If we think like this, it must be OK, right!?
Very nice video, I have to try this! I stopped eating cashews because even the "raw" ones made me feel really heavy and bad. I think macadamias would be a good substitute for anyone on the same boat.
I think David Wolfe has actual raw cashews. I assume they must be rather pricey.
These little small details is why I don't want to be 100% raw and have it become an obsession. I would rather say I am 95 or so, and not sweat the small stuff.
That's a good point about cashwes. I adore them but when I found out how they grow, it seems so crazy that we are able to get so many of them. I mean, what happens to the cashew apple? You get one little nut for every fruit. Who eats the fruit? I have never seen one in real life but it blew me away to imagine how many of them are required to make just one cup of cashews.
I have read that cashews are not and cannot be raw.
From LIving Foods:
"Unfortunetly, most cashew nuts labeled "raw cashew nuts" are not truly "raw". They have been heat processed in order to remove the nut from the toxic shell. You may ask why they label it "raw". Most companies label it "raw" because to them, the nut has "not" been processed, ie: roasted. Although in the process of removing the actual shell, the nut has been very processed...usually steamed and boiled in oil!

@peppers2400 Well you don't have to eat it. I'm pretty sure he wasn't making it for you anyway. Besides, his hair looks clean.

I just made this with a little variation - lemon juice for lime juice. It was EXCELLENT! Even my husband who is not Vegan ate it, baby steps.

Good Video, no nutritional yeast? I seem to always see that used for raw "cheese" mixtures.
nintrovert 3 years ago
Ive done the nutritional yeast before and its great, but a lemon-garlic-nama shoyu/tamari mix is very good.
If you throw in a red bell pepper its like nacho cheese :)

maybe you could try pine nuts :)

I agree...both macs and pine nuts would be a better choice...but definitely more spendy.
I still eat cashews though...but the less the better.

Do you think I could sub brazilian nuts for the cashews?
jensmed 4 years ago
Yeah I know all of that about cashews. I dont really make them a large part of my diet. A godo replacement would have been macadamias instead.
Cashews are sooo hard to get at in nature...I have to wonder if we were even supposed to eat them in the first place.

you are WISE my friend...thanks for that great input.
More greens and not 100% is WAY better than 100% and very little green leaves. Think about alkalinity.
